Plan at a glance
Start outdoors, then go inside the submarine
Lushun Submarine Museum centers on a retired submarine and an outdoor weapons exhibit. Allow about 1–1.5 hours for the museum itself. Start with the outdoor displays, then follow the one-way route through the submarine. A walk by the sea after leaving the museum is additional time.
Inside the submarine, you will need to duck through low doorways, walk along narrow passages and use stairs. Move at your own pace to see the interior and equipment. If mobility is limited or the confined space makes you uncomfortable, you can stay in the outdoor exhibit area.
Distinguish the real exhibits from the simulator
The indicative CNY 30 base ticket includes the real submarine interior and outdoor weapons exhibit. The “Submarine Voyage Experience Hall” is a separate, paid VR simulation, with an indicative price of CNY 60–120. Prices and availability may change; check which activities are included in the ticket before buying. The simulator is not part of the submarine-entry ticket.

Choose your visit
For visitors interested in equipment and confined spaces
The outdoor area displays equipment such as tanks and naval guns. Inside the submarine, you can see pipes, instruments and narrow working passages. Even without a military background, the low doorways, narrow corridors and layout of the compartments give a sense of the space inside a submarine.
Decide whether to go aboard
The interior has narrow passages, low thresholds, frequent points where you need to duck and several steps. Visitors with limited mobility, a tendency to feel dizzy or discomfort in confined spaces can visit only the outdoor displays. With children, point out the low doorways and narrow passages and supervise them according to the safety rules on site. Conditions can feel hot and stuffy in summer; comfort depends on the day and ventilation.
Build your day
One to one and a half hours inside the museum
After buying a ticket, follow the outdoor exhibit route, then enter the submarine through the designated entrance. Walk through the open passages and leave through the designated exit. Allow 20–30 minutes inside the submarine and about 1–1.5 hours for the outdoor exhibit and submarine visit together. Follow staff instructions if queues or capacity controls are in place.
Add a separate walk by the sea after leaving
After leaving the museum, you can take a separate walk at Golden Hill Beach; this time is not included in the museum visit. The beach and nearby battery are separate sites. Check whether they are open, along with the walking route and time needed; they are not included in the museum ticket.
Get there
From Lushun Station
From central Dalian, take Metro Line 1 toward Hekou (河口). Transfer to Line 12 at Hekou and get off at Lushun (旅顺) Station. From there, take a taxi for about 10 minutes to the area around No. 966 Huangjin Street. Allow extra time for the metro transfer and the journey within Lushun. Check the pickup point for ride-hailing cars and how to find a return ride.
Know before you go
Check the ticket and opening date
The indicative base ticket is CNY 30. Confirm what it includes, accepted discount documents, on-site ticketing and reservation requirements with the museum for your visit date. Reference hours are 08:00–17:00 in peak season, with some summer dates extended to 18:00; off-season hours are 08:30–16:30, with ticket sales ending about half an hour before closing. Check the exact dates and times before setting out.
Wear shoes for narrow passages and stairs
The submarine has low doorways, narrow passages and steps. Wear shoes with good grip, watch your head and your footing, and move slowly along the one-way route. It may feel stuffy in summer, so bring water and pay attention to how you feel. If you become uncomfortable, leave the exhibit and follow staff directions.
Decide separately on paid activities
The VR simulation and the real submarine visit are separate activities; confirm the price and availability on site. If you are interested only in the submarine and outdoor equipment, first check what the base ticket includes before deciding whether to buy an add-on. Check the activity description and ticket details on site before buying.
