How to Visit
1

Reach it from Anlan Cable Bridge or the upper route

Most visitors reach Erwang Temple after crossing Anlan Cable Bridge from the core waterworks side. A high-gate route can put the temple earlier in the day.

Tip:Both options involve steps.
2

Connect the temple to Li Bing's waterwork story

The temple honors Li Bing and the later cultural memory around the Dujiangyan system. Read the short explanations so it does not become just another temple stop.

Tip:Its value is strongest when paired with the engineering sites below.
3

Use the hillside buildings for viewpoints

Move through the layered halls slowly. The hillside setting gives partial views toward the river, bridge, and waterworks route.

Tip:Wet stairs can be slippery.
4

Decide whether to continue higher

If you still have time and energy, continue toward Qin Yan Lou or higher viewpoint sections. If not, return toward the bridge and lower scenic route.

Tip:Do not force the upper section late in the afternoon.

Insider Tips

Treat Erwang Temple as part of the Dujiangyan Scenic Area route, not a separate ticketed attraction.

Wear shoes that handle steps and polished stone.

Start earlier if you want both Erwang Temple and Qin Yan Lou.

Use the high-gate downhill plan if stairs are manageable but you want less climbing.
