Plan at a glance

Location and scenic-area structure

Dajue Mountain is at 14 Jianshe East Road in Zixi County, Fuzhou. It has one main entrance, at the visitor center. From there, the scenic area extends toward Dajue Mountain Ancient Town at the foot of the mountain, the cable-car station halfway up, and Dajue Rock Temple near the summit. The city-center cultural sights are about 100 km away and more than 1.5 hours by road, so plan Dajue Mountain as a separate one- or two-day trip.

Tickets and transport inside the scenic area

The current reference price for admission is about CNY 60 per person. After entry, the sightseeing shuttle, cable car, Cliff Train, Cliff Flying Car, and rafting are sold separately or in combinations depending on the product. Admission does not automatically cover every internal transfer or experience; check the contents of any package, the day's prices, and parking charges item by item when buying.

How much time to allow

Allow about 3–4 hours for the cable car and Cliff Train without rafting. Add Tianjie, Dajue Rock Temple, or Nantianmen and keep at least half a day. A rafting day normally takes a full day, including queues, changing clothes, and weather-related changes.

Choose your visit

Mountain transport and cultural sights

The main sightseeing experience is the sequence of sightseeing shuttle, cable car, and Cliff Train, which lets you see the mountain without making the entire ascent on foot. Higher up, you can choose Tianjie, Nantianmen, and Dajue Rock Temple, which is near a natural rock cave. At the foot of the mountain, Dajue Mountain Ancient Town provides rest, food, and showers and changing facilities after rafting.

Rafting and the Cliff Flying Car

Visitors who want outdoor thrills can add the Cliff Flying Car and canyon rafting after the mountain route. The rafting course is about 3.6 km long with a drop of about 188 m and usually takes 1–1.5 hours, but the season, launch time, queue, and weather can change the day's pace. The Cliff Flying Car is about 3.8 km long, and riders control their own speed.

Who it suits

The cable car and Cliff Train make the higher viewpoints accessible to families, older visitors, and general sightseers who do not want a continuous climb. Rafting and the flying car suit visitors comfortable with getting wet, queuing, and stronger thrills. If you only want mountain scenery and the temple, choose the sightseeing route and use your time at Tianjie, Dajue Rock Temple, or Nantianmen.

Build your day

A 3–4-hour sightseeing route

Enter at the visitor center, take the sightseeing shuttle to Dajue Mountain Ancient Town, and then take the cable car uphill. On the Cliff Train, either ride through or make brief stops at stations operating that day. Return to the upper cable-car station, take the cable car down, and use the shuttle back to the entrance. This route keeps walking to a minimum and focuses on the cable car, valley scenery, and Cliff Train; it does not include rafting.

A one-day land–water–air route

Take the shuttle from the visitor center to the ancient town, the cable car uphill, and the Cliff Train to make brief stops at Tianjie, Die Lian Hua Station, or other stations if time allows. Then take the Cliff Flying Car downhill, queue for rafting, shower and change at the rafting finish in the ancient town, and take the sightseeing shuttle back. Rafting launch times and queues may reduce your time in the mountains, so confirm that the sections connect before buying the day's products.

A mountain hiking route

Hikers can take the sightseeing shuttle from the visitor center to the old cable-car station, get off, and walk uphill on stone steps for about 1–1.5 hours. After visiting the summit area, return by the same path or take the cable car down. This reduces spending on extra experiences but puts most of the physical effort into the uphill steps, so set your shoes and return time according to your walking speed.

Fitting rafting into the day

The main rafting season is usually May to October, with common launch times from 13:00 to 16:00; weekend morning sessions may be added. Whether rafting runs, when participants must gather, and the age and height requirements all follow the day's scenic-area arrangements. If rafting is your last activity, confirm that transport back to the ancient town and out of the scenic area will still be available afterward.

Get there

From Fuzhou Railway Station

The passenger center beside Fuzhou Railway Station has direct buses to the scenic area, but departures are limited and an early bus may leave around 09:00. You can also take a taxi or shared ride from the station; the one-way journey takes more than 1.5 hours. There is no metro connection to Zixi, so coordinate the long-distance transport with the scenic area's opening time.

Driving and parking

For driving, navigate to the Dajue Mountain Visitor Center Parking Lot. The current reference price for parking is about CNY 10 per day; some spaces have shade, but capacity is limited. Wenchangli, Tang Xianzu Memorial Museum, and the other city-center cultural sights are in a different area, so calculate any combination as a cross-area road journey.

Know before you go

Ride and activity prices

Current reference prices are about CNY 25 for a sightseeing-shuttle return trip, CNY 120 for a cable-car return trip, CNY 80–128 for the Cliff Train, CNY 160 for rafting, and CNY 100 for the Cliff Flying Car. Prices and package combinations can change. Online products may include different items, so check whether admission, shuttle, cable car, and experiences are included in the same purchase.

Rafting equipment and storage

Rafting and the flying car require closed-toe, non-slip shoes; flip-flops are unsuitable. Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a waterproof bag. The current reference price for a rafting locker is about CNY 20–40, usually including a deposit; remember the locker number before collecting your belongings. Showers are available at the finish, but towels and hair dryers may not be free.

Age, weather, and queues

The reference rafting age range is 14–63. Children under 1.2 m cannot participate, and children 1.2–1.5 m tall need an accompanying adult. Wind and rain can also affect the other rides and activities. Weekend rafting queues may reach 1–2 hours; rain and strong winds may stop the cable car, Cliff Train, or rafting. Call 0794-5796906 before leaving to confirm the day's operation.

Food and the return trip

Food choices inside the scenic area are limited and prices and opening arrangements may change. For a long route, consider eating in Zixi County; Zixi bread is a convenient road snack. After rafting, allow time to shower, change, and return to the visitor center. If you leave late, arrange a pickup in advance because a last-minute ride may take time to find.

Check before setting out

Sightseeing-shuttle, cable-car, Cliff Train, rafting, Cliff Flying Car, and parking charges may change with the season, weather, and the day's operations. Weekend extra rafting sessions, launch times, buses, and transfers may also change. If you plan several activities on one day, confirm the package contents, departures, closures, and transport out before leaving.
