Location and admission
Tang Xianzu Memorial Museum is at 1325 Wenchang Avenue in Linchuan District, Fuzhou. The main entrance faces Wenchang Avenue and has an open square in front. It is a separate museum from Wenchangli Historic and Cultural District, so you need a ride between the two.
Tickets and opening hours
Admission is free, no reservation is required, and visitors register at the entrance. Normal hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:30. The museum is closed on Mondays, except that public-holiday arrangements may differ. In July and August, hours may change to 08:30–17:30, so check the day's arrangement during the summer.
How much time to allow
Allow about 30 minutes for the main exhibits and the Peony Pavilion in the courtyard. Allow 1–1.5 hours to follow both floors in exhibition order and then walk through the courtyard and see the pavilion. The museum is mostly level and is visited on foot.

The main hall and the Linchuan Four Dreams
The two-storey main hall covers Tang Xianzu's life, works, and influence. The second floor's immersive exhibition on the Linchuan Four Dreams is a key part of the museum, including *The Peony Pavilion* (《牡丹亭》), *The Purple Hairpin* (《紫钗记》), *The Southern Bough* (《南柯记》), and *The Handan Dream* (《邯郸记》). It suits visitors interested in Ming-dynasty opera and literature.
The World Literature Zone and the Peony Pavilion
The World Literature Zone presents Tang Xianzu alongside Shakespeare and Cervantes. It is near the stair landing, so look for the signs as you move between floors. In the courtyard, the physical Peony Pavilion was designed around the imagery of *The Peony Pavilion* and makes a natural outdoor stop after the main hall.

A 30-minute short route
Enter through the main gate, start with the first-floor biography of Tang Xianzu, follow the stair landing to the World Literature Zone, and finish at the courtyard Peony Pavilion before leaving. This order works for a short city stop; the complete second-floor exhibition can be left for another visit.
A 1–1.5-hour complete route
Start with Tang Xianzu's life on the first floor, then go upstairs to the immersive Linchuan Four Dreams exhibition. Continue to the courtyard and the Peony Pavilion. The World Literature Zone is at the stair landing, so watch for its signs as you pass between floors; this order keeps the hall, exhibitions, and courtyard together without unnecessary backtracking.
Connecting with other city sights
Wang Anshi Memorial Museum is about 6 km away, or roughly 10 minutes by taxi, and can form a city culture day with this museum. Wenchangli is about 6 km away, or roughly 15 minutes by taxi. It is a separate walking district, and its nighttime performance has its own check-in arrangements, so calculate the connection as a road journey.
Get there
From Fuzhou Railway Station
A taxi from Fuzhou Railway Station takes about 20 minutes. You can also take a public bus. Enter “Tang Xianzu Memorial Museum” as the navigation destination so that you arrive on the main-entrance side; entering only Wenchang Avenue may leave you searching for the gate.
Parking
Drivers can navigate to the parking area in the Forest Hotel courtyard opposite the museum or to a nearby parking lot. The Forest Hotel parking arrangement is free. After parking, cross the road on foot to the main entrance; the museum gate is not suitable for a temporary stop.
Know before you go
Check the closure day and last entry
Monday is the most likely day to find the museum closed, and the 16:30 last-entry time also matters if you arrive late. July and August may use different hours, so do not plan a final summer admission using the normal schedule.
Exhibition locations and pace
The World Literature Zone is at the stair landing, so look for it while moving between floors. See the courtyard Peony Pavilion after the main hall, keeping the indoor displays and outdoor garden as separate parts of the visit. Bring drinking water before entering if needed.
Food and the next stop
Nearby options include Fuzhou rice noodles; elsewhere in the city, you can also find Linchuan beef offal and stir-fried pork with chili. If you pair the museum with Wenchangli, allow for the taxi journey between them. Wenchangli's streets, the church exterior, and its nighttime performance are separate attractions, not parts of this museum's exhibition.

The usual pattern remains free admission with registration, Tuesday–Sunday opening, Monday closure, and last entry at 16:30.
