Arrive and confirm how to enter the scenic area
Arrange a private car, shared ride, or self-drive trip from Diebu County to Zhagana. At the entrance, first confirm that day's admission, vehicle-access, and shuttle arrangements. If driving, plan to leave by the same route rather than treating the northern mountain road as a routine shortcut.
Tip:Mountain roads, weather, and access conditions can change the day's route. Drivers without off-road experience should not enter unpaved or rain-affected roads simply to complete a loop.

Visit the villages and viewpoints before deciding on the gorge
Start in Dongwa Village or Yeri Village, walking between village lanes and viewpoints. In the early morning, prioritize the higher views around Dari or Yeri; if your energy and the weather allow, continue to the Runwu Valley trail. Do not feel obliged to complete every longer route.
Tip:The villages, viewpoints, and gorge are not one continuous, adjacent route. Completing the broad views first helps you avoid spending limited energy on backtracking.

Plan your visit around at least one overnight stay
Stay inside the scenic area for one night if possible: explore the villages or Runwu Valley after arrival, then get up early for mist and mountain views before leaving the following afternoon. On a short visit, limit the plan to one viewpoint and a village walk.
Tip:Zhagana's most rewarding conditions are often the morning light and changing valley weather. A same-day return usually misses this period and can make mountain driving feel rushed.

Treat altitude and mountain weather as route conditions
Walk slowly uphill and carry a windproof warm layer, rain protection, sun protection, and enough water. Wear shoes with grip on wet boardwalks and loose stone paths. If you develop a strong headache, nausea, or shortness of breath, stop climbing and return to the villages to rest.
Tip:Altitude and large day-to-night temperature changes can make an otherwise easy walk much harder. Do not begin a gorge hike late in the day, when cooling temperatures or darkness can make the return difficult.

Use Fairy Beach as a sunset add-on and arrange your return first
Fairy Beach works best after Zhagana's main visit: travel from the village roads to Fairy Beach's uphill starting point using the available vehicle or shuttle arrangements, then walk up the boardwalk to the meadow. It is a separate meadow stop within the scenic area, not a section you reach simply by continuing from the village entrance route.
Tip:Light fades quickly on mountain roads and boardwalks after sunset. Confirm your way down and pickup point before leaving; if clouds block the view, do not delay the return just to wait for a photograph.
