How to Visit
1

Use Nantianmen as a route junction

Treat Nantianmen as a high-altitude transfer and rest point on the main Mount Hengshan route, not as a separately ticketed attraction.

Tip:Reach it by hiking all the way up or by reserving the eco-shuttle to the nearby area.
2

Set the return time before climbing higher

After getting off the shuttle, work backward from your booked downhill slot before beginning the final climb to Zhurong Peak.

Tip:The walk takes around 40-60 minutes on continuous uphill steps.
3

Use the stop to reassess energy

Visitors with average fitness can rest and refill water briefly here, while full-route hikers can decide whether to continue upward or begin their descent.

Tip:Make the decision before fatigue becomes a problem on the upper steps.
4

Return here for the descent

You will return to Nantianmen for the eco-shuttle down, so do not stay at the summit until you only have enough time to hurry back.

Tip:Leave the summit with a comfortable margin instead of racing downhill.
Highlights
  • The stone gateway is a clear landmark on the summit route and marks the start of the final climb.
  • The setting is more open than the foot of the mountain, with layered ridgelines and changing mist when conditions allow.
  • Nantianmen makes the shuttle-plus-summit-walk route practical for visitors who do not want to hike the entire mountain.
  • It is both a short rest stop and the key point for deciding whether to continue upward or head down in time.
Insider Tips

The distance to Zhurong Peak is short, but the slope and steps make it feel harder when tired. Allow at least 40-60 minutes.

Cloud seas and distant views depend on visibility, so do not wait in heavy mist until your return time becomes too tight.

Temperatures are lower and winds are stronger here; add a layer while resting so you do not get cold after sweating.

Steps can be slippery after rain. At night or in poor visibility, stay on the main route and do not take shortcuts.
