Plan at a glance

Forest, meadow, and location

Hadamen National Forest Park is at kilometer 27 of the old Hohhot–Wuchuan road (呼武旧公路) in Wuchuan County (武川县). Forest, canyons, and alpine meadows meet here. Visits combine vehicle transfers and walking. The park is separate from Chilechuan Grassland around Sun Plaza and Chilechuan Alpine Grassland (Huanghuawopu); these attractions do not share entrances or sightseeing-vehicle routes.

How much time to allow

Allow 3 to 4 hours to arrange the park’s sightseeing vehicle and walking paths on your own. If you buy a direct shuttle package, your return is tied to its departure and meeting times; actual time inside the park depends on the route and transport arrangements. Stops are spread out, so confirm the last vehicle downhill before entering.

Park shuttle services

Since 2025, private cars have not been permitted to drive uphill. Visitors generally use park shuttle or sightseeing vehicles, and some routes require a transfer. Certain prebooked direct-shuttle packages offer travel to upper stops without the usual transfer. Check the exact route, meeting point, and return arrangements before booking.

Forest and mountain views

Liaomu Shenshan Viewpoint (料木神山观景台) looks over ridges, forest, and meadows. Misty Forest (迷雾森林) and the birch boardwalk (白桦木栈道) are good for a walk among the trees. Fog and sea-of-clouds views depend on the weather and are not guaranteed.

Meadows and pastoral-culture sites

The park also has Hadamen Aobao (哈达敖包), a nomadic-culture boardwalk, and the Dalinghaer Nomadic Ancient City (达林哈尔游牧古城). Follow park directions, and do not describe reconstructed scenery as an untouched historic site. Follow local etiquette when viewing an aobao (敖包).

Deer park and seasonal activities

Seasonal sika deer interactions and autumn hay-roll displays may be available, but schedules and prices depend on on-site arrangements. Check notices before taking part. Do not enter enclosures or damage hay rolls; seasonal displays are not permanent features.

Who will enjoy it

The park suits families and outdoor visitors who enjoy forests and meadows and are comfortable moving between stops by vehicle. The grounds are large and hilly; older adults, young children, and visitors with limited mobility should confirm shuttle and path access first. Food options are limited, so bring supplies.

Build your day

The 3-hour sightseeing-vehicle route

From the service area, take the park shuttle or direct shuttle package uphill to its designated stop. Use the route map to choose one or two stops, such as a viewpoint, Misty Forest, or the birch boardwalk, then return to the service area from the assigned stop. Note the stop order and last departure when you enter.

The 4-hour unhurried route

Follow the vehicle direction for the day to connect a viewpoint, a forest or nomadic-culture boardwalk, and one cultural site. If the deer park is open, you can stop there as well. Return from the designated stop and leave time for transfers and the last vehicle.

Limits for hiking sections

If you want to hike, first confirm which marked trails are open, their start and end points, trail conditions, and transport. The “Sacred Realm” hiking route is not assumed to be open year-round. If you cannot confirm it, stay on open marked paths and return the same way.

Visit nearby sites separately

Hongshiya National Ecological Park (红石崖国家生态公园) is a separate attraction and does not share Hadamen’s admission or shuttle. Before combining the two, check opening status, road conditions, and parking. Finish mountain visits during daylight instead of setting out to chase the sunset.

Get there

Drive to the visitor service area

Navigate to “Hadamen National Forest Park” or kilometer 27 of the old Hohhot–Wuchuan road, and follow signs to the visitor service area. Allow time for the mountain drive from the city. Do not drive past barriers into the park.

Booked direct shuttle

A direct-shuttle itinerary lists two daily departure options: 8 a.m. outbound with a noon return, or 2 p.m. outbound with a 6 p.m. return, including admission and sightseeing vehicles. This is a timed itinerary with set meeting and return times; a four-hour time slot does not mean four hours of sightseeing inside the park. Before purchasing, confirm the meeting point, round-trip transport, and actual time available in the park.

Public transport and return trip

There may not be a regular city-bus service throughout the year. If considering a coach or transfer, check both outbound and return service instead of relying on an old timetable. If driving, check for holiday road restrictions before leaving.

Know before you go

Opening hours and admission

The park’s Trip.com page lists a date range of August 11 to November 30, 2026, with opening hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and last ticket sales and entry at 5:30 p.m. This information changes with the season; confirm it on the day of your visit. The page lists adult admission at RMB 40, a round-trip sightseeing-vehicle ticket at RMB 30, and a combined ticket at RMB 70; check current ticket terms.

Mountain weather and supplies

Wind and temperatures on the mountain can differ significantly from the city. Bring a jacket, sun protection, drinking water, and a snack, and wear shoes with good grip. There are few places to buy supplies. In rain, strong winds, or slippery conditions, shorten your route and follow staff instructions.

Ecology and return-trip safety

Stay on open paths, do not damage hay rolls or pick plants, and follow forest fire rules. Return to your vehicle stop before the last departure. Mobile reception may be unreliable in the mountains, so keep in touch with your group. On event days, follow traffic officers’ directions.
