How to Visit
1

Plan the Sanjiang transfer first

Chengyang Bazhai is in Linxi Town, Sanjiang County, and it takes time to reach from central Liuzhou. A steadier plan is to first arrive at Sanjiang South Railway Station, then take a taxi or scenic-area transport toward the villages.

Tip:This avoids treating the villages like an easy city stop when the transfer is a real part of the day.
2

Buy the main ticket and decide on the bus

The scenic-area ticket is CNY 80, and the sightseeing bus is CNY 15. Packages that include performances or other activities cost differently.

Tip:The bus is useful if you want to reduce walking between entry points and core village areas.
3

Focus on the core villages first

For a first visit, focus on Ma'an Village, Ping Village, Yan Village, and Chengyang Yongji Bridge. A half day covers the core; a full day feels more relaxed.

Tip:Do not force yourself to cover all eight villages if time is tight.
4

Stay overnight if you want quieter village time

If you stay inside the villages, early morning and evening will be much quieter than the main tour-group arrival periods.

Tip:A same-day round trip from Liuzhou can feel rushed if you want to slow down in Sanjiang.
Highlights
  • Eight Dong villages are linked together here, making this the most complete Dong-village experience around Liuzhou.
  • Chengyang Yongji Bridge, drum towers, stilted wooden houses, fields, and streams form the core scenery.
  • Ma'an Village, Ping Village, and Yan Village are the easiest areas for a first visit because the route is concentrated.
  • If you are interested in Dong wooden architecture, wind-and-rain bridges, drum towers, and village life, this has more depth than the county-town landmarks.
  • Evening communal meals, Dong Grand Song, or bonfire activities can add to the experience, but you do not need to join every activity.
Insider Tips

Wear comfortable shoes. Stone lanes, slopes, and walking between villages add up.

The most commercial areas are near the main street and entrance. Walk farther into the villages for a quieter feel.

If time is tight, do not force yourself to cover all eight villages. Focus on Yongji Bridge, the drum towers, and the core villages.

A same-day round trip from Liuzhou can feel rushed. Staying one night is more comfortable if you want to slow down in Sanjiang.
