How to Visit
1

Enter from the South Gate

Enter from "Liuhou Park South Gate" for the smoothest route. The park is in the city center, so taxi, bus, and bike access are all convenient.

Tip:This is the easiest starting point for a first-time route through the main historical sites.
2

Decide how much history you want

The park is free, and 1-2 hours is enough for the main route. If you enter Liuhou Shrine and take time with the inscriptions, add another 30-60 minutes.

Tip:If you only walk through the park and skip Liuhou Shrine, the visit will feel much lighter.
3

Follow the Liu Zongyuan route

A simple route is to enter from the South Gate, visit Liuhou Shrine, Liu Zongyuan's cenotaph, and Luochi Pond, then continue to Ganxiang Pavilion and Zhonghua Garden before leaving from the north or east side.

Tip:This route puts the cultural stops first, then finishes with the calmer garden areas.
4

Arrive early enough for the shrine

Liuhou Shrine usually closes earlier than the park's evening closing time. If the historical section matters to you, do not arrive too late.

Tip:The park can still work as a city walk in the evening, but the main historical content is easier to see earlier.
Highlights
  • The best light stop in Liuzhou for understanding Liu Zongyuan and the city's literary history.
  • Liuhou Shrine, Luochi Pond, Ganxiang Pavilion, and the stone inscriptions are close together, giving the park more cultural substance than a normal green space.
  • The park is compact and shaded, making it a calm city-center walk.
  • The north side is close to Liuzhou Museum, so the two can be visited together.
  • In spring, the bauhinia blossoms around Wantang Road make the surrounding area more attractive.
Insider Tips

Treat this as a 1-2 hour city walk, not a heavy sightseeing stop.

If you only walk through the park and skip Liuhou Shrine, the visit will feel light. To understand why it matters, see the Liu Zongyuan buildings and inscriptions.

Parking nearby is not easy, so a short taxi ride or bus is usually simpler.

Mosquitoes can be noticeable in summer, especially around dusk. Bring repellent.
