Choose one main area first
Longji Rice Terraces is not one single viewpoint. It is a large scenic area made up of Jinkeng Dazhai, Ping'an Zhuang Village, Longji Ancient Zhuang Village, Huangluo Red Yao Village, and several smaller viewpoints.
Tip:For a first visit, choose one main area and see it properly instead of trying to cover every village in half a day.

Separate the base ticket from add-ons
The adult entrance ticket is usually CNY 80. If you are not driving or hiring a car, also check the cost of scenic buses, local shuttles, cable cars, or folk performances.
Tip:The ride from Guilin usually takes 2-3 hours, and the mountain road has many bends.

Match the area to your travel style
With one day, focus on one main area. Choose Jinkeng Dazhai and the cable car to Golden Buddha Peak for the widest views; choose Ping'an Zhuang Village for classic terrace lines and easier walking paths; choose Longji Ancient Zhuang Village if you prefer a quieter old village and Zhuang culture.
Tip:Trying to combine too many areas usually turns the day into transfers instead of terrace time.

Stay overnight if you want better light
With two days, visit Ping'an or the Ancient Zhuang Village on the first day, then Jinkeng Dazhai on the second. Staying overnight in the mountains helps you avoid the busiest daytime crowds.
Tip:A mountain stay gives you a better chance of seeing sunrise, sunset, or morning mist.

Pick the right season
The season changes the whole view. April to June is the flooded mirror season, July to August is green rice season, and September to October is the golden harvest season.
Tip:Fog and rain can block the views, so leave some flexibility in the day if the weather is uncertain.

- Jinkeng Dazhai has the broadest views, with Golden Buddha Peak, Xishan Shaole, and Thousand-Layer Terraces showing different angles of the fields.
- Ping'an Zhuang Village is one of the most established areas, with Nine Dragons and Five Tigers and Seven Stars with Moon as its classic views.
- Longji Ancient Zhuang Village is quieter and better for old houses, stone paths, and traditional Zhuang village life.
- Huangluo Red Yao Village is more about folk culture and works well as a cultural stop on the way in or out.
Insider Tips
✦Do not mix the entrance ticket, cable car, sightseeing car, and Huangluo performance into one price. The entrance ticket is only the base cost; other items depend on your route.
✦The Jinkeng cable car goes to Golden Buddha Peak only. It does not take you to Xishan Shaole or Thousand-Layer Terraces, so those viewpoints still require walking or local transport.
✦Mountain guesthouses often sit along slopes and steps. Travel light, because wheeled luggage is awkward here.
✦Driving gives more freedom, but the mountain road is winding and holiday traffic can be slow. For first-time visitors or groups, hiring a car is often easier.
✦Sunrise, sunset, and cloud seas all depend on weather. Do not make your return transport too tight for one viewpoint.
