Entrance, scope and tickets
Presidential Palace is at 292 Changjiang Road. Adult admission is about CNY 35, with the usual half-price ticket for students and visitors aged 60–69. The famous gate with the “Presidential Palace” sign is a landmark and photo location; the actual entrance is beside the former Chief Accounting Office about 200 metres west of the gate.
Allow 1–1.5 hours for the quick route or 2–3 hours for the Central, West and East sections. Reserve and buy a real-name ticket through the official Presidential Palace mini-program at least one day ahead, or two to three days ahead during holidays.
Seasonal hours
From March 1 to October 14, the usual hours are 08:30–18:00, with final entry at 17:00. From October 15 through the end of February, the usual hours are 08:30–17:00, with final entry at 16:00. The site is normally closed on Mondays except public holidays.
These are the overall park and exhibition hours, while individual buildings may close temporarily for conservation or construction. Read the on-site signs after entry and adjust the route according to the areas open that day.

Central section and historic buildings
The Central Section is the main route and includes the main hall with the “The World Is for All” plaque, Zichao Building and the reception rooms. It suits visitors interested in modern Chinese history and Republican-era architecture.
The famous gate is best photographed from across the road; it is not the ticket entrance. Put the gate, Zichao Building and the central courtyards near the beginning of the visit.
West gardens and East exhibitions
The West Section includes Xuyuan Garden, the stone boat and Sun Yat-sen’s temporary presidential office, offering a mix of garden and historic space. The East Section includes the exterior of the Executive Yuan, Fuyuan and exhibitions on the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and the former Two Jiang Governor-General’s Office.
Presidential Palace is about a 10-minute walk from Six Dynasties Museum, but the two attractions have separate tickets and entrances. If you combine them, allow separately for reservations, tickets and closing times.
Build your day
A 1–1.5 hour quick route
Enter beside the former Chief Accounting Office, then visit the Central Section, including the “The World Is for All” plaque, Zichao Building and the reception rooms. Continue to Xuyuan Garden, the stone boat and Sun Yat-sen’s temporary presidential office before leaving.
This route covers architecture, gardens and modern history in a short visit. Complete the reservation check at the entrance first, then begin photography and exploration.
A 2–3 hour complete route
Start with the full Central Section, continue into Xuyuan Garden and the West Section, then finish with the exterior of the Executive Yuan, Fuyuan and the East Section exhibitions before leaving. The site requires a lot of walking, so start early enough in the day.
Some interior areas of the Executive Yuan and parts of the General Affairs Office may be closed for construction or conservation. Follow the current signs, and do not cross restricted areas; after the visit, walk to Six Dynasties Museum or 1912 instead of rushing across sections near closing time.
Get there
Daxinggong Station
Take Metro Line 2 or 3 to Daxinggong Station, Exit 5, and walk about 3 minutes. Once on Changjiang Road, look for the actual entrance beside the former Chief Accounting Office, then cross the road later if you want the classic gate photo.
The entrance and gate are about 200 metres apart. With children or luggage, complete the entry check first and start photography after you are inside.
Nearby walks and parking
Presidential Palace is within walking distance of the 1912 district, Six Dynasties Museum and the Meiyuan New Village Memorial. Public transport is more reliable for arriving at a reserved entry time; parking information around the site is limited.
The complete visit involves continuous walking, and indoor rooms can feel warm in summer. Carry water. Put 1912 or Kechang Street after the visit rather than building a long meal break into the central route.
Know before you go
Reservations and crowds
Reserve two to three days ahead for holidays and enter with the ID used for the booking. Hours vary by season, and final entry is earlier than closing time, so leave enough time for the afternoon route.
The site is large and a complete visit usually takes more than two hours. Popular buildings and narrow exhibition rooms can be crowded on weekends; follow the one-way flow and wear comfortable shoes.
Water and nearby food
Indoor rooms can feel stuffy when crowded in summer, and water points are limited, so bring water before entering. Some buildings may close temporarily for construction or conservation; follow the instructions and stay outside barriers.
The 1912 district is within walking distance and has many restaurants. Kechang Street is about 15 minutes away on foot and is known for local snacks. Confirm the tickets, entrances and closure days separately for Presidential Palace and nearby museums.
