Location and visit time
Zhang Jian Memorial Hall is at No. 21 Huancheng South Road in central Nantong. The site is called Haoyang Xiaozhu and was Zhang Jian's late-life residence. Nantong also has Zhang Jian's former hometown site in Changle Town, Haimen District; the two locations are not the same, so navigate specifically to Haoyang Xiaozhu.
Admission is free, with entry by identity card. The hall opens Tuesday–Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:30, and closes on Mondays, subject to holiday arrangements. A quick visit takes about 30 minutes; with Nantong Museum, allow 1–1.5 hours.

The life exhibition and Zhang Jian's circle
The opening life exhibition gives a quick introduction to Zhang Jian's industrial and educational work. The interactive "Zhang Jian's Circle" installation places people from his era into the history of modern Nantong. Visitors interested in modern history, city building and Zhang Jian can spend longer in the historical-materials exhibition.
The building is a Chinese-Western courtyard house with corridors, carved windows and a compact garden. It suits a quiet stop within a Haohe and Nantong Museum walking route rather than a full-day visit by itself.
Build your day
About 30 minutes: a quick route
Enter through the main entrance, visit the life exhibition in the introductory hall, then walk through the courtyard to the historical-materials exhibition and the "Zhang Jian's Circle" installation. Leave through the side entrance after keeping the life exhibition, courtyard and interactive display as the priority stops.
About 1–1.5 hours: a museum walking line
Start at Nantong Museum with the New Hall or gardens, then walk to Haoyang Xiaozhu. Inside the memorial hall, follow the life exhibition, courtyard and historical-materials display. After leaving, continue to the Haohe greenway or find food nearby.
The memorial hall and Nantong Museum do not always share the same opening days. On Mondays, include the closure of both memorial and indoor museum spaces when choosing the route.
Get there
Metro and bus
Take Nantong Metro Line 1 to Youyiqiao Station, Exit 4, then walk about 8 minutes. Bus routes 79 and 81 stop at Nandajie–Shenxiu Museum, within walking distance of the memorial hall.
Parking and nearby movement
If driving, navigate to the Haohe Scenic Area visitor-centre car park and walk to the memorial hall. Haoyang Xiaozhu, Nantong Museum and the Haohe greenway are close enough to connect on foot or by shared bicycle, which avoids repeated parking in the old city.
Know before you go
Free entry and opening boundaries
Entry is free with an identity card. The hall opens Tuesday–Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:30, and closes on Mondays. Its hours apply to Haoyang Xiaozhu in central Nantong, not to Zhang Jian's former hometown in Changle Town, Haimen.
The memorial hall, Haohe riverfront and Nantong Museum have separate ticket and opening arrangements. The riverfront can be walked all day, but indoor galleries still follow their own opening days.
Nearby breaks
After the visit, walk along the Haohe greenway or continue toward South Street for food. The memorial hall's small cultural-products shop may offer postcards or commemorative stamps, subject to the day's in-house arrangement.
