Plan at a glance

A free beach with paid services

Dajing Beach is in Dajing Village, Changchun Town, Xiapu County, Ningde, Fujian. The Dajing Beach Scenic Area entrance is a commonly used access point. The beach itself is free to enter and does not require a reservation. Sun umbrellas, tents, loungers, foot washing, showers, and similar services cost extra; do not assume they are included with a ticket.

The beach can be entered all day, but daytime is more practical because lighting is limited at night. Allow about 2 hours for a short visit. With Dajing Ancient Fortress, the casuarina shelterbelt, and the coastal road, allow half a day to a full day.

Time needed and who it suits

This suits families who want to play in the sand, coastal walkers, drivers, and visitors looking for a slower coastal route. There are steps at the beach entrance, and sand and broken shells make strollers harder to use. With a stroller, camping cart, or anyone with limited mobility, confirm the usable access route first.

Dajing is not an all-inclusive seaside resort. Swimming, camping, boating, and beach services must each be judged according to sea conditions, on-site rules, and the actual price.

Choose your visit

Beach, ancient fortress, and shelterbelt

The beach stretches for about 3 km and is suitable for walking, sea views, and sand play when conditions are safe. Dajing Ancient Fortress, a Ming-era coastal fortification near the shore, offers a different historical stop, with granite walls, a barbican, and ancient banyan trees.

The casuarina shelterbelt provides a shadier walking section, but paths in the trees and the beach entrance are not completely level. You can combine the beach, fortress, and trees, or choose only two of them; there is no need to extend the visit into the night to cover every point.

Who it suits

Families can focus on the beach and ancient fortress during the day. With older adults, reduce walking on the sand and choose the outside of the fortress and a short route through the trees. Drivers can make Dajing one stop on the Donghai No. 1 route, but arrange the tide and return separately.

Do not treat tide-pool collecting, fishing, or camping rights as fixed activities. There are many broken shells on the shore. Before entering the water or intertidal area, check the sea conditions and the safety boundary for that day.

Build your day

A 2-hour beach short route

From the scenic-area entrance, walk along the beach, visit Dajing Ancient Fortress, then walk a short section of the casuarina shelterbelt before returning. This suits visitors with limited time or children, with the emphasis on controlling the amount of walking on sand and steps.

If the wind strengthens, rain begins, or darkness approaches, leave the beach early. Do not stay on a poorly lit coast just to chase sunset, and do not treat temporary stalls or boating offers by the beach as required parts of the visit.

A 4-hour half-day route

Spend the morning on the beach, then visit the ancient fortress and shelterbelt. After lunch, continue to Gaoluo Beach, Danwan Viewpoint, or Haiweijiao on the Donghai No. 1 route if time and road conditions allow. Calculate parking, walking, and opening conditions for each later stop separately.

Sun umbrellas, loungers, tents, foot washing, and showers are extra services. Confirm the price and area restrictions before using them. Some areas may not permit visitors to set up their own tents, so do not assume you can camp on arrival.

A one-day Donghai No. 1 drive

A fuller coastal route can connect Gaoluo Beach, Danwan Viewpoint, Dajing Beach, Xiawei Island, and Luxia Lighthouse. The Xiawei sea cave must be assessed separately around the low tide and on-site access conditions; it is not a routine add-on to Dajing Beach.

Complete the main beach visits and road movement during daylight. If holiday traffic, wind and rain, or a long stop at an earlier location delays you, reduce later stops instead of entering unfamiliar coastal roads at night to catch up.

Get there

Driving and parking

Navigate to “Dajing Beach Scenic Area.” The road into the village is narrow and can become congested during holidays. It is often better to park at an official lot outside the village and walk in. Parking commonly costs about CNY 10 per visit, with the exact fee set on site.

Do not treat a roadside position offered by private touts as an official car park, and do not block a resident's entrance, a beach access lane, or a fire lane. Confirm where the car is parked before beginning the walk.

High-speed rail and bus

A taxi from Xiapu Station to Dajing Beach takes about 50 minutes and commonly costs CNY 80–100. Buses or K1 service from Xiapu County town may also run, but departures are limited and public transport requires more time.

Non-driving visitors should confirm the return vehicle before entering, especially after using beach services in the afternoon. Lighting on the coast is limited at night, so do not delay the return beyond the last bus.

Know before you go

Sea conditions, boating, and tide-pool activities

People may approach visitors on the beach offering fishing or boating activities, but the boat trip, price, shore-side processing, and safety conditions may be unclear. Avoid joining informal arrangements at the last minute. If the price, trip, and return plan are not clear, do not board.

The beach has many broken shells, and both tide-pool finds and footing are unpredictable. Before entering the water or intertidal zone, check the day's sea conditions, tide, and permitted area. When conditions are unsuitable, stay on the beach and shelterbelt paths.

Paid services, camping, and access

Sunshade and lounger rentals may be expensive, and foot washing and showers also cost extra. Ask about the price and service contents first. Some public facilities are maintained unevenly, so bring a towel, drinking water, and spare clothes.

There are steps at the beach entrance, making camping carts and strollers difficult to use. Night lighting is not stable. Free entry does not mean that swimming, camping, or entering the coast is suitable at every hour.
