Plan at a glance
Venue, format, and duration
Impression Mazu is at Ruyi Theatre on Meizhou Island, around the permanent site of the World Mazu Culture Forum. The usual entrance is the main door of Ruyi Theatre. This is an indoor performance with fixed seating, separate from Mazu Ancestral Temple, Mazu Cultural Park, and Mazu Film and Television City.
Each performance lasts about 66 minutes. Weekday schedules commonly include a 20:00 show, Monday may be a non-performance day, and weekends may add a 15:00 show. Times change by date and operation, so buy tickets from the programme listed for that day. Do not treat a frequently used time as a fixed daily start time.
Tickets and time needed
A pool-seat ticket is about CNY 128. Other seating areas and platform prices vary by show. When booking, confirm the seat zone, performance time, and ticket scope. The performance ticket is a separate product and does not automatically include Meizhou Island admission, the ferry, island transport, Mazu Ancestral Temple, Mazu Cultural Park, or another performance.
Allow a separate half-day or evening schedule for entry, ticket checks, finding your seat, and leaving the venue. After a 20:00 show, the finishing time may be close to or later than the ferry operating period. Staying overnight on the island is the safer assumption; do not force a late show into a same-day departure plan.

Indoor seated performance
Impression Mazu suits visitors who want to watch a Mazu-themed stage performance from a fixed seat. The production uses lighting, projection, haze, and live performance to tell its story. The actual equipment, sections, and interaction style depend on the show that day.
Some shows or ticket types may offer an AR experience, but the device and exact way it is used may differ for each audience member. Check the day's ticket and entry information, and do not treat platform descriptions of equipment as a guaranteed ticket benefit.
Seating and viewing pace
Different seating zones affect the view, distance, and price. Choose according to your budget and the seat shown on the ticket. Do not describe the sightline, upgrade, or actor interaction of one zone as the standard experience for every show.
Remain quiet during the performance and follow the theatre's photography rules. Even if limited filming is allowed, do not use flash or affect other viewers. A group photo, outdoor activity, or actor interaction after the performance is not a fixed arrangement.
Who this suits
This performance suits visitors interested in Mazu culture, stage shows, and an indoor audio-visual experience. It also works for families who do not want a long coastal walking route. With older adults or children, confirm seats, entry time, and accommodation after a late show. Visitors with firm expectations about AR, interaction, or a particular programme must accept that the show may change.
Build your day
Daytime cultural core plus an evening show
During the day, visit Mazu Ancestral Temple and Mazu Cultural Park, then choose one island attraction according to your group's energy before going to Ruyi Theatre in the evening. The temple, park, and performance each have their own entrance and ticketing; a daytime ticket does not automatically become a performance ticket.
When travelling from the cultural core to the theatre, allow time for island buses, e-bikes, walking, ticket checks, and finding your seat. Do not pack Ewei Rock Park, the northern coast, and the evening show into one route without a buffer.
When you have only half a day
With limited time, make the afternoon or evening show the day's only paid cultural activity and spend the time before it near the theatre or in a nearby island area. Confirm the start time and ticket-check requirements first, then work backward to decide when to leave other attractions.
If there is no suitable show that day, do not use the time or ticket information from the other performance page as a substitute. Impression Mazu and Origin of Meizhou Performance use different venues, so changing plans creates new transport, entry, and return issues.
Returning after a late show
After a 20:00 show, the regular passenger ferry may have stopped or may not connect reliably. Before buying a late-show ticket, confirm your accommodation and next-day return plan. If you cannot stay overnight on the island, “checking for the last ferry after the show” is not a reliable plan.
Do not schedule a long cross-island transfer to a coastal attraction after leaving the theatre. Night buses, e-bike returns, and road lighting may limit movement, so plan the route from the theatre to your accommodation in advance.
Get there
From Putian Station to Ruyi Theatre
From Putian Station, take Bus K09 or a taxi to Wenjia Pier, then take the passenger ferry to Meizhou Island. The crossing takes about 15-20 minutes. After arriving, use an e-bike if rentals are available that day, or take the island sightseeing bus to Ruyi Theatre. The actual journey from the pier depends on roads and visitor flow.
Ordinary private cars cannot go onto the island. Drivers should leave vehicles in the official parking area at Wenjia Pier. Navigating to the theatre does not mean you can drive from the mainland to its entrance.
Entry and theatre location
The main door of Ruyi Theatre is the usual entrance. After arrival, complete the ticket check according to the ticket, staff instructions, and on-site signs. Allow at least 30 minutes for queues, security checks, and finding your seat. Do not leave the final island bus or e-bike return until a tight gap just before the show.
The theatre is an indoor, fixed-seat venue. It is not the outdoor performance area at Mazu Film and Television City. For another performance, navigate again and check the ticket details again.
Know before you go
Showtimes, cancellations, and programme changes
Weekday, weekend, and holiday schedules may differ, and Monday may have no performance. Use the booking page and the day's on-site information for the time, programme, seat zone, and late-show arrangement. Do not assume a past date's schedule will be the same today.
AR equipment, outdoor sections, fireworks, actor interaction, and particular programme scenes may change with the show. Treat this as an indoor fixed-seat performance, not a combined ticket for every surrounding activity.
Tickets and theatre etiquette
Prices may differ by seat, show, and sales channel. Confirm that you are buying a single-show ticket, and check the seat zone and cancellation or change conditions. A performance ticket does not replace the ferry ticket, accommodation, or island transport plan.
Take your seat as directed, remain quiet, do not use flash, do not cross the stage boundary, and do not leave your seat to take photos during the show. Any filming or interactive section must follow the theatre's rules for that day.
Night wind and return
Sea winds on Meizhou Island can be strong at night, so bring a light jacket. After a late show, do not rush to the pier and gamble on a return ferry. Confirm accommodation, the next day's ferry, and nighttime island transport before buying the ticket. If you cannot arrange a place to stay, choose a daytime show or skip the late show.
