Plan at a glance
Venue and performance format
Origin of Meizhou Performance is at Mazu Film and Television City, usually entered through the main gate of the film-city scenic area around 2000 Donghuan Road. It is a separate immersive, outdoor, or live-setting performance from Impression Mazu. Venue, programme, ticket scope, and exposure to weather all need to be assessed independently.
The scenic area and performance venue may remain open into the evening, but the actual showtimes follow the day's notice. Different programmes, interaction areas, outdoor sections, and nighttime activities may not all operate on the same day. Do not expect a complete programme based on an old guide.
Tickets and time needed
A regular adult ticket is about CNY 89-128, but a single-show ticket, combination ticket, and products for different dates may cover different things. Do not treat an “entertainment plus fireworks” product or another platform package as a stable two-day pass, and do not assume the price includes every scenic facility, meal, or island transport.
For one performance, allow 2-3 hours. If you also want to visit the film city, wait for outdoor programmes, or join interactive activities, plan for half a day or longer. Outdoor performances are affected by rain, wind, venue conditions, and operational changes, so leave room to cancel or shorten the route.

Live-setting and outdoor viewing
The main feature is the combination of film-city settings and live performance. Visitors may watch scenes in different areas or move between them. Programme names, performers, equestrian scenes, interaction, fireworks, and intangible-heritage performances may change by date and operation. Do not treat a complete platform-promoted combination as guaranteed each time.
The film-city buildings, streets, and beach areas can be used before or after the show, but they are not the performance stage. After entering, first confirm the day's map, showtime, and assembly point before deciding whether to continue through other areas.
Daytime and nighttime experiences
During the day, you can see the film-city buildings and open streets before attending a scheduled performance. Night visits may depend more on lighting and outdoor programmes, but sea wind, temperature, visibility, and return pressure are also greater. Include fireworks, iron-flower displays, bonfires, or other night activities only when they are explicitly open that day.
An outdoor performance may require standing or moving between scenes, and seating and viewing may not be fixed like an indoor theatre. With older adults or children, ask about the viewing conditions and walking distance first. Do not ignore physical limits just to see every programme.
Who this suits
This suits visitors who enjoy live-setting performances, historical theme scenes, and family interaction, as well as those willing to accept changing outdoor conditions. Visitors who need fixed seats, stable air conditioning, or a clearly fixed programme order may prefer the indoor Impression Mazu, but one ticket cannot replace the other.
Build your day
About 2-3 hours: performance visit
After arriving at the film city, confirm the day's showtime, assembly point, open areas, and whether a second ticket check is required. Then plan around one main performance. Leave by the on-site route afterward; do not enter an unopened area to search for fireworks, NPCs, or other scenes mentioned in old guides.
If you bought a single-show ticket, plan for one performance. Do not assume two consecutive days of entry or unlimited admissions. Whether a combination ticket exists, what it includes, and how long it is valid must follow the day's ticket.
Half-day film city plus performance
You can enter in the afternoon, walk through the open period-style streets and outdoor settings, watch the confirmed main performance, and then decide whether to stay into the night according to weather and on-site notices. Distances, queues, and programme changes may alter the order, so keep open time between activities.
If rain, strong wind, slippery ground, or a suspended activity affects the visit, reduce the interactive and outdoor route and keep the confirmed indoor or sheltered areas. Do not climb over barriers, use non-visitor passages, or keep waiting for uncertain fireworks just to complete a programme list.
Combining it with beaches and other island attractions
The coast near Mazu Film and Television City and Lianchiao Beach can be separate stops, but tide, weather, and island travel must be considered independently. Ewei Rock Park, Mazu Ancestral Temple, and Meiyu Tide Sound are not annexes of the film city and must not be written as one ticket or one performance route.
After an evening performance, the ferry and island transport may not connect. Return to your accommodation after nighttime programmes, or confirm the next day's departure in advance. Do not stack the southern coast, northern coast, and a late-show return into the same time window.
Get there
Getting to the film city
From Putian Station, take Bus K09 or 363 to Wenjia Pier, then take the passenger ferry to the island. After disembarking, take island Bus 3 to Mazu Film and Television City, or rent an e-bike or use island sightseeing transport if available that day.
Private cars cannot go onto Meizhou Island. Drivers must leave vehicles in the official parking area at Wenjia Pier. Parking at the film-city entrance does not change the rule that ordinary private cars cannot enter the island.
Entrance and movement inside
The main gate of Mazu Film and Television City is the usual entrance. Before the show, confirm the theatre or assembly point and follow the signs. Different programmes may take place in different settings, so navigating only to the film-city main gate does not mean you have reached the performance area.
Some viewing areas are outdoors or require standing. Wear comfortable shoes with good grip. After the show, leave by the official exit and transport route; do not enter dark, closed, or non-visitor roads for photographs.
Know before you go
Programmes, weather, and ticket scope
Shows, showtimes, fireworks, iron-flower displays, interaction, and outdoor facilities may change with weather, holidays, and operations. Before buying, confirm whether the product is a single-show ticket or a combination product, and check its validity, number of entries, and applicable dates.
Fireworks, equestrian scenes, NPCs, bonfires, intangible-heritage experiences, and the full set of main scenes may change by date. Rain, strong wind, high temperatures, or safety controls may adjust or cancel outdoor content. Accept the replacement arrangement announced on site.
Equipment and physical effort
Outdoor viewing may require prolonged standing and walking between different settings. Wear non-slip shoes and bring water, sun protection, and a light jacket. Night sea winds can be strong; children and older adults should have somewhere to rest. Rafting, wading, and water activities are not part of this performance.
Food and supplies inside the scenic area may be limited. Arrange a proper meal and water before entering. Do not miss a purchased performance while queuing for snacks, and do not treat merchant purchasing or discount promises as itinerary guarantees.
Distinguishing it from Impression Mazu
Origin of Meizhou Performance is at Mazu Film and Television City and focuses on outdoor or immersive live-setting performance. Impression Mazu is a separate indoor fixed-seat show at Ruyi Theatre. They do not share venue, tickets, programmes, or return arrangements. To see both, buy separate tickets, check both schedules, and assess whether you need to stay overnight on the island.
