Plan at a glance

Choose between the cave, lake and high-altitude challenges first

Baojing Palace is not one simple cave ticket: the ancient cave, Swan Lake, glass bridge, via ferrata, bungee jump, zip line and children’s area all have different intensities and ticket types. The cave and lake take about 1.5–2 hours; adding the glass bridge, boat or downhill attractions takes about 3–4 hours, while a hot-spring stay can extend the visit to two days.

Base cave tickets and combination packages cover different items. Before buying, choose the main experience according to your group’s stamina, age and comfort with heights. Do not buy a large package for elevated attractions and then leave too little time for the cave itself.

You do not need to complete all three cave levels

The cave is around 18–24°C and has three main levels. The first is relatively level and suits most visitors. The second requires many steep steps, so travellers with limited stamina or knee discomfort can visit only the first level and exit rather than treating the top as compulsory.

The park usually opens around 08:30–18:00, with ticket sales and entry ending at about 16:30. Elevated attractions, boats and photo collection all take additional time, so late arrivals should protect one experience they care about most.

Choose your visit

1.5–2 hours: level cave route and Swan Lake

After entering, follow the cave’s gentler first level to see the Dragon Bone Tower, underground terraced pools and other main formations, then walk around Swan Lake. This suits summer cooling, families with children or older adults, and travellers who want to save energy for another city activity.

The second level and later steps do not suit everyone. If knees already feel strained, follow the exit route rather than forcing the climb. The cave has stairs and damp ground, so wear non-slip trainers rather than high heels.

3–4 hours: cave, glass bridge and lake attractions

For photographs and a moderate challenge, use the sequence of cave, Lion Mountain Stairway, Tiangong Glass Bridge, Swan Lake boat ride and forest coaster downhill. Complete the higher walk first, then leave lake and downhill attractions to the later part of the route to reduce repeated climbing.

Boat turnover can be slow and holiday waits can be long. If the queue exceeds what you can accept, keep the cave and glass bridge and skip the lake ride without losing the day’s rhythm. Families can instead follow the lower-intensity children’s adventure area, small train, flower fields and cave route.

Build your day

In the cave, see level one before deciding whether to continue upward

After entering, complete the main cave sights on level one, then judge energy before the sustained climb begins. Travellers continuing to level two should leave time for the downhill return; those not continuing should follow the exit rather than backtracking outside the cave to search for higher sights.

If the cave has a collection time for souvenir photographs, handle it promptly after finishing the cave. Do not leave to use other attractions and expect to return later for photographs that have expired.

Put elevated attractions early, after checking restrictions and weather

Travellers wanting the glass bridge, via ferrata or bungee jump should first confirm ticket type, opening time, height and age restrictions, and weather, then decide the order with the cave. Via ferrata requires a minimum height of 130 cm, a minimum age of 10, and high-top non-slip shoes; visitors who do not meet the requirements should not redesign the whole day at the attraction entrance.

Complete elevated attractions before heading to Swan Lake, boats or downhill rides, allowing companions not joining the challenge to meet at the lake. In rain, strong wind or long queues, prioritise the cave and lake rather than making thrill activities the only value of the visit.

Get there

Driving to internal parking is simplest

The drive from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and similar cities takes about 1.5–2.5 hours; navigate to the internal parking area at Baojing Palace Ecotourism Resort. A taxi from Yingde West Railway Station takes about 20 minutes, but weekend and holiday return rides can be difficult, so non-drivers should book a driver in advance.

Yingde city can be a base for accommodation and meals, but do not treat local buses as the only way out after late high-altitude attractions. After parking, confirm the relative locations of the cave entrance, lake area and purchased attractions to avoid crossing the park repeatedly.

Set the final transport before you start

Travellers returning to the railway station that day need time for boat queues, photo collection and downhill walking. If a driver is collecting you, agree whether the meeting point is the visitor centre or parking area, and share contact details with everyone in the group.

Food choices inside the park are limited and not always good value, so carry water and small snacks. Eat a proper meal in Yingde city or at a nearby farmhouse after the main attractions for a more controllable schedule.

Know before you go

High-altitude attractions have clear eligibility limits

Via ferrata, bungee jumping, zip lines and the glass bridge do not suit every visitor. Before buying a package, confirm age, height, footwear, fear of heights and physical condition. The 130 cm and age-10 via-ferrata threshold should be checked before departure, not decided at the activity entrance.

Boats can be slowed by queues or operations, and cave ground includes damp sections. Non-slip shoes, water and patience matter more than adding extra paid attractions. The hot-spring hotel suits travellers splitting the visit across two days, but is not required to complete the cave.

Combine nearby places by driving time, not walking distance

Jiqingli Black Tea Valley is about a 30-minute drive away and can be a tea-garden route for another half-day; it should not be described as a walkable adjacent stop. Yingxi Peak Forest Corridor is better for cycling and peak-forest roads, with different arrival and ticket logic.

For a two-day visit, use day one for the cave and hot springs, then choose elevated attractions or tea gardens on day two. In every version, protect enough time for the return vehicle and final-entry cut-off.
