Feilai Temple and Feixia Scenic Area have different arrival routes
Feilai Temple sits beside the Beijiang River and usually opens around 08:00–17:00. It suits a quiet temple visit, prayer and a short riverside walk. Entry is free and incense is available in the temple; travellers planning to eat the vegetarian meal should arrive within the breakfast, lunch or dinner serving times.
It is not inside Feixia Scenic Area, even though the two are about 3 km apart. Water access to Feilai Temple starts from the South Bank Pier or Baimiao Fishing Village Pier. Boats from Baimiao Pier go to Feixia Mountain and cannot be used to reach Feilai Temple.
Choose between a short boat visit and walking in, boating out
Travellers short on time or unable to walk far can take a boat directly from Baimiao Fishing Village or the South Bank Pier, visit the temple and return by the same route in about 2–3 hours. Return tickets may limit the length of the temple visit, so confirm the return sailing and permitted stay before buying.
Travellers happy to walk can follow the old Beijiang riverside path for about 3 km from Baimiao Fishing Village to the temple, visit, then take a boat back, allowing about 4–5 hours. Supplies are scarce on the path, so this should not be decided at the last minute.

Short boat visit: make the return boat the first priority
Board at a pier that actually serves the temple, confirm the destination, and note the return sailing before buying a ticket. The one-way boat trip is about 20–30 minutes; visit the main hall, Guanyin Hall and the relevant rear-hill areas, then return within the ticket rules. This suits older adults, children and travellers wanting a short temple visit.
Return boats may give priority to round-trip ticket holders, and tickets may restrict your stay. If you want time to sit in the temple, take photographs or eat a vegetarian meal, choose a ticket with more flexibility or walk in and boat out.
Walk in and boat out: combine river views with the temple
Buy water and simple food in Baimiao Fishing Village before setting out, then follow the old Beijiang riverside path for about 3 km to the temple. The route is mainly level ground and short steps, but becomes slippery in rain and has some falling-rock risk. Take the boat back to the village to combine the river scenery with the return journey.
This route needs non-slip shoes, sun protection and insect repellent. There are very few shops along the way and only limited rest supplies, so do not begin without water.

Short boat route: check the return before boarding
At the South Bank Pier or Baimiao Fishing Village Pier, first confirm that the boat goes to Feilai Temple, then buy the ticket and record the return time. Once ashore, focus on the main temple buildings, Guanyin Hall and rear-hill views without making the route longer than the return-boat window.
If you plan to eat at the temple, breakfast is around 06:30–07:30, lunch around 11:30–13:00 and dinner around 17:00–18:00. If you miss a serving time, do not expect an extra meal; eat in the fishing village first instead.
Walking route: pack supplies first and leave the boat for the return
Buy water and simple food in Baimiao Fishing Village, then follow the old riverside path steadily to the temple. After arriving, visit the temple first and decide whether to climb the rear hill according to your energy; do not extend the route at the last minute when the final boat is near.
Leave time for the return-boat queue. If heavy rain or river conditions affect sailing, adjust to the safer arrangement rather than waiting on the far bank for uncertain water transport.
Get there
Two correct piers and one pier to avoid
For Feilai Temple, use the South Bank Pier or Baimiao Fishing Village Pier. Do not navigate to or board at “Baimiao Pier” and then look for the temple; that route serves Feixia Mountain, a different destination.
Drivers can park at Baimiao Fishing Village or the Feixia Mountain Park parking area, then start the chosen walking or boat route. From Qingyuan Railway Station, a taxi to Baimiao Fishing Village takes about 20 minutes; public transport is infrequent and unsuitable for a tightly timed visit.
Keep a land-based alternative in mind
Boats may be suspended in heavy rain, and the riverside path is also more slippery in wet weather. Treat the temple visit and riverside walk as adjustable options rather than a fixed combination that must be completed.
If arriving from the Feixia side, confirm the destination of the Feixia ferry and the Feilai Temple pier separately. Similar place names do not mean the two services use the same boat route.
Know before you go
The riverside setting calls for complete basic gear
Wear non-slip trainers and bring water, light food, insect repellent and sun protection. Riverside and wooded sections have limited shade, and after rain you should stay clear of slippery edges. Do not climb outside barriers or linger where falling rocks are a risk.
Visit the temple quietly and in an orderly way. Incense and the vegetarian meal are personal choices, so there is no need to buy extra items that you do not want.
Leave time for the boat, meals and the fishing village
Round-trip ticket limits, return queues and vegetarian-meal times all affect the real pace. A half-day plan should not try to combine the full walk, a rear-hill climb and a complete fishing-village meal; decide which is most important and treat the rest as optional.
Baimiao Fishing Village is a useful place to eat before departure or after returning. If ordering seafood, ask about price and preparation before ordering. Feixia Scenic Area is a separate visit for another time, so do not mix its water-transport instructions with this route.
