Treat Tianzi Mountain as an easy waterfall and stream day
Tianzi Mountain Waterfall suits light walking, tiered waterfalls, stream play and a break at the waterfall café, rather than a high-intensity mountain day. The park usually opens around 08:00–18:00. Water volume changes with rain and season, and the waterfalls are generally fuller after rain and in spring.
Base admission mainly covers waterfall sightseeing. The glass walkway, slide and some high-altitude photo attractions may require separate payment or a package. Decide first whether you only want the waterfall-and-café route or also want elevated attractions.
Non-drivers need to solve the exit transport first
The park is around Xikeng Village in Feilaixia Town, and driving to the main-gate visitor centre is the easiest option. The taxi ride from Qingyuan city is lengthy, and finding a car after leaving can be unreliable. Without a car or a booked driver, this should not be a rushed stop.
On arrival, confirm parking, return pickup and the attractions operating that day before walking uphill. This avoids discovering that there is no timely way out after water activities are finished.

2–3 hours: waterfall, café and the 520 Stairway
From the entrance, walk to Tianhou Waterfall, rest at Plus Cafe Waterfall Café, then climb the 520 Stairway to see Heart Rock before returning the same way. The overall intensity is low and suits children, older adults or travellers who want to slow down in the mountains.
The 520 Stairway still involves about half an hour of climbing. Travellers with limited walking ability can end the visit at the café and waterfall area rather than treating Heart Rock as compulsory.
4–5 hours: add elevated and stream activities
Travellers wanting more attractions can follow Tianzi Flying Dragon Glass Walkway, the cliffside waterfall swing, Dynamic Time Slide, then stream play before returning. This route includes high-altitude facilities, downhill ground and wet shoes, so wear non-slip footwear and bring a change of clothes.
People uneasy with heights should not force themselves onto the glass walkway simply because it is included in a package. Without high-altitude attractions, there is still enough to do around the waterfall, stream and café.
Build your day
Follow the waterfall route at an unhurried pace
After entering, go first to Tianhou Waterfall and adjust the stop according to water volume and crowds, then rest at the waterfall café. If energy allows, continue to the 520 Stairway and return by the same route, reducing time spent finding attractions at junctions.
Keep clear of slippery edges when taking photographs at the waterfall. If water is high after rain or spray is heavy, use protected viewing areas first.
On the elevated route, go up first and finish with the slide
Schedule the glass walkway and cliffside swing while your energy is highest, then use the Dynamic Time Slide downhill and finish with stream activities. This avoids waiting for high-altitude attractions in wet clothes and makes it easier to protect electronics.
The slide, walkway and swing may not be covered by base admission. Confirm operating status and ticket coverage before going uphill so you do not need to redesign the route later.
Get there
Drive to the main gate before entering the park
The drive from the Guangzhou–Foshan area takes about 1.5 hours; navigate to “Tianzi Mountain Waterfall Scenic Area” for the main-gate parking area. The car can hold dry clothing and items that must not get wet. Because the park is relatively remote, settle the return transport before entering.
From Qingyuan city, a taxi takes about 50 minutes and public transport is inconvenient. If you are not driving, a booked return vehicle is more controllable than trying to call a car from the mountain foot.
Assess path conditions after arrival
The lower entrance and some streamside sections have slopes and moss, so change into non-slip shoes before starting the walk. In heavy rain or prolonged wet conditions, reduce stream and steep-slope sections and, if needed, limit the visit to the waterfall near the entrance.
There is still walking between the parking area, visitor centre and main attractions. Families with young children or travellers carrying larger equipment should allow time for the return walk.
Know before you go
Ticket type, season and water volume shape the experience together
Base admission does not mean every photo and high-altitude attraction is included. Travellers on a limited budget can still make a half-day visit around the waterfall, stream and café. Water is generally better after rain and in spring; in drier periods, lower expectations for waterfall force and water activities.
Weekend tour groups and self-drive visitors can create queues for elevated attractions. A weekday is more suitable for a quieter waterfall visit or photography.
Pack for slippery ground and waterfall spray
Wear non-slip trainers and bring insect repellent, water, a phone waterproof case and a change of clothes. Moss by the stream is slippery; do not wear flip-flops for water play or near the waterfall, and do not place camera bags directly on damp ground.
You can arrange food or rest nearby after the visit, but this is not a destination with immediate, dependable public transport once you leave. Bijia Mountain Tourist Area is another-day option for waterfalls and stream adventure; both destinations work best with a car or prearranged transport.
