An open fishing village
Xunpu Village is a residential village on the north bank of the lower Jinjiang River near its estuary in Fengze District. It is free to enter, does not require one central reservation and can be visited throughout the day. Residents' homes, working lanes, flower-headdress shops, oyster-shell houses and an active waterfront all share the same space, so free village access does not grant entry to private homes or permission to photograph residents freely.
Allow about 1.5–2 hours for a short route covering a flower-headdress experience, Shunji Palace, oyster-shell houses and the village lanes. To include the village, boats, harbour and waterfront walk, allow about 3–4 hours; midday sun, queues and commercial photography can extend the visit.
Who it suits
Xunpu suits visitors who want to observe a coastal community, learn about Xunpu women's customs, or combine a flower-headdress experience with architectural photography. It is not a closed scenic compound, so residents, seafood smells, photo solicitations and working vehicles are part of the route.

Flower headdresses and oyster-shell houses
The flower headdress is the easiest cultural experience to join, with shops concentrated around the flower-headdress street and Shunji Palace. Oyster-shell houses are useful for seeing local building materials, wall textures and coastal construction methods, although preservation and photography conditions vary between lanes.
Shunji Palace and waterfront life
Shunji Palace, the old banyan tree and the village lanes suit architectural and community photography. The harbour offers views of fishing boats and the waterfront. Late afternoon light can be better for outdoor photography, but boats returning, a sunset and a clear background all depend on weather and activity that day.
Build your day
The 1.5–2-hour styling and short route
When taking a taxi or ride-hailing car, set the destination as Xunpu Ship Management Station or Xunpu Mazu Temple. After arriving, choose a flower-headdress shop nearby, then walk to Shunji Palace, the oyster-shell house lanes and the old banyan tree. This suits visitors who want one styling session rather than a longer village walk.
Styling usually takes 30–60 minutes. Packages, the number of outfits, make-up and photography services vary between shops, so ask what is included, how long the queue is and how the photographs will be delivered before paying. Do not treat one commonly quoted price as the village-wide standard.
The 3–4-hour village and harbour route
Complete the styling in the morning or before midday, then walk through the oyster-shell house lanes around Xunpu Road No. 300–400, followed by Shunji Palace and Siyuan Water Tower. Later in the afternoon, continue to Xunpu Wharf or Fisherman's Wharf, then rest at the waterfront park before returning.
This route combines residential lanes with an active waterfront, so give way to residents, fishing work and vehicles. The harbour section is optional; do not enter unguarded or unsuitable areas just to chase the sunset.
Get there
Destination pins and public transport
For a taxi or ride-hailing car, use Xunpu Ship Management Station or Xunpu Mazu Temple rather than only “Xunpu Village,” which may send the driver to a point far from the main lanes. Bus routes K301, 39, 44 and Tourist Route 1 stop at Xunpu Market, followed by a walk into the village.
Drivers can use Fisherman's Wharf Parking Lot or Xindong Parking Lot, then walk about five minutes to the core area. Parking is managed along the village roads and Fenghai Road, so do not stop on the roadside just to get closer to a flower-headdress shop.
Know before you go
Photography and commercial experiences
The village includes residents, shopkeepers and workers. Ask before photographing people, homes or working scenes. Flower-headdress shops and photography studios differ in style, price, queue time and final quality; check sample work and confirm whether make-up, clothing and all image files are included.
You do not need to buy a styling package if you only want the oyster-shell walls and lanes. Commercial solicitation can be concentrated in the village; if an offer does not suit you, simply move on rather than treating one shop's package as the standard Xunpu experience.
Sun, smells and supplies
Xunpu functions as both a residential area and a fishing village, so seafood smells, damp surfaces and working vehicles are normal possibilities. Midday sun is strong, so carry water, sun protection and light shoes. Seafood shopping and restaurant prices in the village are not fixed recommendations; return to the city for a planned meal if needed.
