How to Visit

Start at the old-town edge
Arrive by taxi or park outside the old core. The stone lanes are narrow and uncomfortable for cars and luggage.
Tip:Do not self-drive deep into the old town.

Walk toward Guishan Park
Use the lanes, squares, small shops, and uphill route toward Guishan Park as a natural walking line.
Tip:Take it slowly because of altitude.

Time the prayer wheel for evening
The giant prayer wheel and old-town lights are more atmospheric after dusk, but go before the area fully winds down.
Tip:Crowds can build around the wheel.

Choose lodging by access
If you have luggage or a car, stay near the edge rather than in the steep inner lanes.
Tip:This makes arrival and departure much easier.
