How to Visit
1

Treat it as Pudacuo's core stop

If you only have limited energy in the park, spend it at Shudu Lake rather than trying to rush every stop.

Tip:This is the most reliable lake walk.
2

Walk the 3.3 km boardwalk

The boardwalk is flat and scenic, but altitude makes the pace slower. Stop for forest, meadow, and lake views.

Tip:Allow at least 1.5 hours if you like photos.
3

Skip unnecessary boat add-ons

The boardwalk gives a better sense of the lake and forest than a short paid ride for most visitors.

Tip:Use your energy for walking.
4

Watch altitude symptoms

The lake sits around 3,700 m. If you feel headache, dizziness, or nausea, rest and use the shuttle rather than pushing on.

Tip:This is still a high-altitude walk.
Highlights
  • Flat lakeside boardwalk through forest and meadow
  • The most accessible core scenery inside Pudacuo
  • Good chance of quiet lake reflections in calm weather
  • Wildlife sightings such as squirrels along the route
  • Easy to combine with Militang and Bita Lake by shuttle
Insider Tips

Bring water and snacks because the route is longer than it looks.

Do not feed wildlife along the boardwalk.

Wear layers; wind can pick up near the lake.

Morning visits usually feel calmer.

If traveling with older visitors, keep the pace very slow.
