It is free and open all day, with two practical starting points
Start from Guanyin Ridge Parking Lot for the old official road, or use the main beach entrance. The area is free, requires no reservation, and is open all day. Parking is about CNY 10 per visit; weekday crowds are low. For sunset, arrive after 3 pm and keep the coast for the late afternoon.

For a quick visit, follow the two-hour coastal route
From the parking lot, walk to the beach, paddle at the edge of the water, then visit the rock formations for sunset silhouettes and Zhenhai Rock before returning the same way. This route focuses on sea views, rocks, and sunset without a long uphill walk.
First-time visitors should allow about three hours for the heritage walking route
From the parking lot, walk the Guanyin Ridge old official road, then pass Shuishi Pavilion and Shuiyue Temple before descending to the beach for tide-pooling. The old road is stone-paved and partly shaded, but mosquitoes are common; wear shoes suitable for steps and uneven ground.

Walk the old road and inscriptions before descending to the beach
The old official road is about 195 metres long and paved with granite slabs. At Zhenhai Rock, look for Ming-period inscriptions including “Zhenhai Rock” and “Yangwei Zhishui.” Shuiyue Temple sits between mountain and sea, and nearby public toilets make it a practical pause before heading down to the shore.
Use low tide and late afternoon for rocks, tide-pooling, and sunset
After reaching the beach, you can paddle near the edge of the water; at low tide, look for shells and small crabs among the rocks. For sunset, reach the rock formations early rather than moving over wet stone after dark. Dragon Rock and nearby sea-crossing heritage sites can be added as short stops along the way.

Driving is best for linking the dispersed coastal stops
Navigate to “Guanyin Ridge Parking Lot.” The coastal points are spread out, so driving is the most flexible way to combine the old road, beach, and nearby coast. The main lot has relatively ample spaces; some small side roads reach the beach, but spaces are limited and should not be relied on.
From high-speed rail, taxis are more realistic than the infrequent bus
From Lufeng Station or Lufeng East Station, taxis take about 40–50 minutes; agree on the fare before departure. Bus 6 from Lufeng’s urban area stops at Guanyin Ridge and operates roughly from 6:20 am to 5:30 pm, but service is limited and is not ideal as the only return plan.
Know before you go
Non-slip footwear and mosquito protection matter more than photo gear
Coastal rocks can be covered with algae and become slippery, so do not wear flip-flops; non-slip sports shoes are the safer choice. Mosquitoes are common by the old road and wooded edges, making long trousers and repellent useful. Tide-pool only at low tide, check the tide in advance, and do not enter the rocks at night or as the water rises.
Bring water and snacks; plan proper meals in town
The beach area mainly has small shops, so bring drinking water and snacks and plan full meals in Jinxiang Town or Jieshi Town. Light is softer from about 4–6 pm, with sunset around 5:30 pm; weekdays are usually quieter, while weekend and holiday afternoons are busier.
