At Whale Bay Town, you can allow time for the small train, Ferris wheel, or family rides before returning to the water. Around 5:30 pm is a useful time to settle on the beach for sunset. If you plan to enter the water, stay within protected areas and follow on-site life-jacket requirements.

A taxi from Shanwei Station takes about 20–30 minutes and costs roughly CNY 20–30. Bus routes 6 and 112 stop at Jinting Bay Station. A taxi is the easier choice if you have luggage, are travelling with children, or will leave after sunset.
Driving is useful for a coastal itinerary; e-bikes work for short local hops
From the Pearl River Delta, driving usually takes about 2–2.5 hours; navigate to “Poly Jinting Bay.” Parking is available around the residential compounds, hotels, and nearby streets. Shared e-bikes, around CNY 30–60 per day, are useful between the chapel, beach, and small town; confirm the return time, mileage, and permitted riding area before renting.

Sun, wind, and water safety need to come before beach photos
The sun and wind remain strong even in the afternoon, so bring sun-protective clothing, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a light wind layer. Jellyfish may be present, so do not touch them. Observe the safety net and life-jacket rules, and do not swim in unprotected water.
