Plan at a glance
Location and visit time
The China Yellow Wine Museum is at No. 557 Xiada Road, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, near Guangxiang Bridge and the Ring Canal. The usual entrance is the museum's main gate near Huangjiu Culture Square. A quick visit takes about 1–1.5 hours; first-time visitors or those planning a tasting or Huadiao jar-painting DIY should allow 2–3 hours.
Adult admission is RMB 25; the on-site ticket reference price is RMB 30. Senior tickets are RMB 15, while students may receive half-price or free admission with valid identification. Admission includes a tasting voucher, which can be used at the Experience Center according to the day's arrangements. Huadiao jar-painting DIY is charged separately, with a reference price of RMB 50–98 per jar, and is not included in admission.
Opening hours and Monday reminder
Regular opening hours are 9:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:30. The museum usually operates year-round, but on Mondays it may close or open only some exhibition areas. Confirm the arrangement before a Monday visit, and leave time for tastings and interactive activities on other days as well.

Cellars, wine history and brewing craft
The museum suits visitors interested in huangjiu culture, history, traditional craft, and families travelling for an educational visit. The underground cellar, Wine History Hall, Collection Hall, Brewing Techniques Hall and Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop focus on storage, history, collections and the brewing process, so the visit is mainly about exhibitions and craft explanations.
The Collection Hall displays aged wine brewed in 1928. The Brewing Techniques Hall and workshop introduce traditional brewing methods, while the Huadiao Hall covers painted wine jars and customs related to Nü'erhong. Follow each gallery's photography rules; displays and performances may vary by date, so follow the arrangements shown on the day.
Tastings and Huadiao DIY
Adult visitors can use the tasting voucher included with admission to sample huangjiu such as Yuanhong, Jiafan, Shanniang and Xiangxue at the Experience Center, according to the day's arrangements. Tasting is a time-limited on-site experience and may stop after 16:00, so visitors arriving late should adjust their plans.
Huadiao jar-painting DIY is a separate paid activity, with a reference price of RMB 50 for a small jar and RMB 98 for the opera-mask design. Families travelling with children should first ask whether a child-friendly, non-alcoholic activity is available, and should not plan alcohol tasting for anyone who should not drink.
Build your day
1–1.5-hour quick route
Start in the Introductory Hall, then visit the Wine History Hall, underground cellar and workshop before using the tasting voucher in the tasting area. Leave through the exit afterward. If time is limited, keep the wine history, cellar and brewing-process sections, and fit tasting around the day's closing time.
2–3-hour in-depth route
First-time visitors can start at Huangjiu Culture Square and the Introductory Hall, then visit the Wine History Hall, Wine Customs Hall, Huangjiu Industry Hall, Collection Hall, Brewing Techniques Hall and Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop before adding Huadiao DIY or a tasting at the Experience Center. Opening conditions and queues may change the order, so check the on-site guide before adding optional activities.
Family route
With children, consider the interactive exhibition areas, starter-culture maze, AR brewing game, non-alcoholic sweet-fermented-rice experience and Huadiao painting, followed by the wine-jar sculptures. The tasting area is intended for adults, so a family route should focus on exhibitions, interactive activities and non-alcoholic options. Accompanying adults should also arrange their return transport if they drink.
Get there
Bus, metro and parking
Buses 5, 39, 51, 108 and 168 can reach Xiaochengbeiqiao Station or Guojiamo'ercheng Station. Take Shaoxing Metro Line 1 to Shaoxing Railway Station, leave through Exit B and walk about 1.1 kilometres. If driving, navigate to the China Yellow Wine Museum parking area; spaces are limited, but the reference information lists parking as free. You can also park at the Shuijie Cultural and Creative Park opposite the museum, where the reference price is RMB 5 per hour.
The museum's main gate is near Huangjiu Culture Square, so follow the pedestrian route from the parking area. Museum parking is limited; on weekends and public holidays, allow extra walking time instead of waiting for a space at the entrance.
Nearby options after your visit
The museum is next to the Ring Canal and Shuijie. After the visit, you can plan nearby open districts according to the time available, but Shuijie, Calligrapher's Hometown, Cangqiao Straight Street and Lu Xun Native Place should each be planned separately. The museum admission, tasting voucher and tickets for nearby attractions are handled separately.
Know before you go
Drinking and getting back safely
Huangjiu can have a strong after-effect, so eat something before tasting and skip the tasting if you are on an empty stomach. Do not drive after drinking. Huangjiu milk tea, huangjiu ice desserts and drinks containing alcohol should still be treated cautiously as alcoholic drinks; visitors who need to drive should skip the tasting or change their transport plan.
The tasting voucher is included with admission, but tasting times and on-site capacity may be limited, and the experience may be unavailable after 16:00. Visit the museum first and confirm the Experience Center's arrangement before deciding whether to use the voucher or join the DIY activity.
Mondays, drinks and paid experiences
The museum may be closed or have some exhibition areas unavailable on Mondays, so confirm before setting out. Food options inside are limited, and you can bring drinking water, but follow the rules for carrying or storing drinks and taking photographs in the exhibition and experience areas.
Huadiao DIY, digital interactive activities, tastings and food service are charged or arranged separately. A tasting voucher included with admission does not mean that every experience is free, so allocate your budget and time according to the activities you choose.
