Plan at a glance
Large scenic area and visitor center
Shaoxing Keyan Scenic Area is at No. 558 Keyan Avenue in Keqiao District, Shaoxing. The usual entrance is the Keyan Scenic Area Visitor Center; there is also an entrance on the Luzhen side, but some land connections may be restricted. The scenic area includes Keyan's rock formations, Jian Lake and Luzhen, so it is large. Allow 3-4 hours for a first visit or about 2 hours for a quick visit.
Combo ticket, boats and opening hours
The usual combo ticket covers Keyan, Jian Lake and the painted sightseeing boat, with an adult reference price of RMB 80-90. Luzhen's street area is marked as free, but entry from different gates, connecting routes and boat rides still follow the day's ticket checks. Wupeng boats are charged separately, with a reference price of RMB 35 per person. The scenic area is open 8:00-17:00, with last entry at around 16:30; follow the same-day notice.
The painted sightseeing boat in the combo ticket provides the main water connection between Keyan, Jian Lake and Luzhen. When buying tickets, first confirm whether the boat is included before deciding whether to add the Wupeng boat, glass walkway or other optional activities.

Rock formations and stone Buddha
Keyan suits visitors who want to see quarrying remains, a stone Buddha in the lake and Jiangnan water scenery. Yun Bone is the most distinctive rock, standing 31 metres high with a base circumference of about 4 metres. Tiangong Buddha is 20.8 metres high and was carved from an isolated rock in the lake; the two sights work well in one walking section.
Puzhao Temple, Seven Star Rock and the waterside rock walls add historical and geological interest to the Keyan area. There is no need to plan a high-mountain climb, but the stone paths, lakeside passages and distances between scenic areas still involve substantial walking.
Luzhen and water sightseeing
Luzhen is a water town built around stories by Lu Xun. White walls, dark tiled roofs, the double-sided stage and Kuiwen Pavilion are the main sights. Live performances, community opera and interactive activities follow the arrangements on the day, so performance times and audience interaction may change by date.
The painted sightseeing boat in the combo ticket is useful for travelling between Keyan, Jian Lake and Luzhen. A Wupeng boat is a separate paid experience. Visitors who want photographs of the water, rock walls and town lanes can choose between the options according to the weather, crowds and boat schedule.
Build your day
2-hour quick route
Enter through the Visitor Center, see Yun Bone and Tiangong Buddha first, then take the combo-ticket sightseeing boat from Baichuan Pier toward Luzhen. Walk along part of the main street and see the double-sided stage before leaving from the Luzhen side. With limited time, focus on Keyan's rocks, the lake view from the boat and Luzhen's main lanes, without adding the glass walkway or a long hike.
3-4-hour complete route
First-time visitors can follow the sequence of the Keyan entrance, Yun Bone, Tiangong Buddha, Puzhao Temple, Ancient Towpath, Baichuan Pier, the painted sightseeing boat, Luzhen, Kuiwen Pavilion and the exit. The boat is both a sightseeing activity and important transport between areas; visitors travelling with older adults or children should use it to reduce long walks.
The Ancient Towpath has narrow stone paving, so watch for oncoming pedestrians and slippery surfaces. Adjust the time spent in Luzhen according to the street area's opening status and performance schedule, rather than rushing to walk every bridge and lane.
Reverse route for busy days
On holidays, consider entering from Luzhen first, walking the main street, then taking a boat from the Luzhen Grand Theatre Pier to Jian Lake. Walk along the White Jade Causeway toward Keyan and leave from the Keyan exit. Some land connections may close, and the reverse boat route may require a combo-ticket check, so confirm the paths and boat schedule on-site before setting out.
Get there
Buses, metro and driving
Buses 805, 817, 818 and the Jian Lake special line can reach Keyan Scenic Area Station. Take Shaoxing Metro Line 1 to Mingzhu Square Station, then take a taxi for about 10 minutes to the scenic area. If driving, navigate to Keyan Scenic Area's parking areas 1, 2 or 3; the reference parking price is RMB 10-20 per day.
The Visitor Center is the most reliable usual entrance. The Luzhen entrance works for a reverse route, but the connecting paths, ticket checks and water transport may change with the day's management arrangements.
Moving between areas
Keyan, Jian Lake and Luzhen can be connected on foot or by boat. The combo-ticket sightseeing boat is the easier way to reduce walking between areas. Wupeng boats, the glass walkway and other activities are charged separately; after buying a ticket, check the day's pier and route instructions before adding anything.
Know before you go
Tickets and reverse routes
When buying the ticket, confirm whether the combo includes the painted sightseeing boat. A ticket for only one section may not cover water transport. Do not rely on free reverse-entry routes found online: land passages may be locked and tickets may still be checked on boats.
Walking, weather and supplies
The distances between scenic areas are long, and the Ancient Towpath is narrow. Stone paving can be slippery in rain. Commercial facilities inside the area are limited, and food choices in Luzhen may be limited or expensive, so bring water and simple snacks or plan a proper meal after leaving.
The glass walkway has a reference price of RMB 20 per person and is optional; Wupeng boats also cost extra. Boat schedules, performances, bridges and some land connections may change because of weather, maintenance or visitor flow. If something closes, follow the adjusted route on-site.
