Errenzhuan and live comedy
The Zhongjie theatre is a flagship venue of Benshan Media. Shows center on errenzhuan (二人转), a Northeast China folk performance, and may also include comedy sketches, impersonations and acrobatics, with audience interaction. Check the evening's programme if you want to see live Northeast China comedy.
The show is mainly in Chinese and features errenzhuan, Northeast-style comedy and live interaction. Understanding the Northeast dialect and its wordplay helps with the jokes. International visitors should not assume English subtitles are available; contact the theatre before buying if language support is important to you.
Content style and audience
The programme focuses on Northeast China comedy and may include jokes or innuendo about relationships and sex. Visitors sensitive to this material and families with children should check the programme before deciding. The cast varies by performance, so a particular performer is not guaranteed.

Build your day
Dinner before the show
From Exit B1 of Zhongjie Station on Metro Line 1, you can stop near the Zhongjie archway, then have dinner in Toutiao Lane (头条胡同) or at a nearby restaurant. Allow about 3–4 hours for dinner and the show.
Arrive before 18:30 for ticket checks; a 19:00 performance ends at about 21:30.
Tickets and seating
Check the ticket tier, seating area and collection method when buying. If your group needs adjacent seats, confirm before paying that the ticket option supports this. Collecting tickets early does not guarantee a better seat.
Getting back after the show
After the performance, you can continue walking around Zhongjie before taking the metro or a taxi. Whether you can catch the last metro after an approximately 21:30 finish depends on that day's service hours; check the route and last-train time in advance.
Get there
Metro and walk
Take Metro Line 1 to Zhongjie (中街) Station. Exit at B1, walk to the pedestrian street and continue to the theatre's main entrance at No. 110 Zhengyang Street. Shenyang Imperial Palace and Zhang Xueliang's Former Residence are nearby, about 5–10 minutes away on foot, and can be combined with the show.
Driving and parking
Parking is limited in the Zhongjie core, and the area below the theatre is not a reliable parking option. The Dadong Road car park is one possibility, at a reference rate of about RMB 3 per hour. Walk from there to Zhengyang Street; check the on-site fee and available spaces.
Know before you go
Comfort during the show
The performance lasts about 2.5 hours, and some audience members say the seats are hard. Locate the ticket-collection window and entrance before the show; arriving late means missing the start. Follow the theatre's rules for photography.
Food options
Before the show, eat in Toutiao Lane or around Zhongjie; Laobian Dumplings (老边饺子) and Zhongjie Ice Cream (中街冰点) are also nearby. Since the show ends late, check the last metro or arrange another way back if you are not staying to explore the district.
