Streets, sights and hours

Luzhi Ancient Town is in Luzhi Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou. The main gathering point is the Visitor Centre at 21 Xiaoshi Road, and the town streets are free to enter. Baosheng Temple, the Ye Shengtao Memorial, Wansheng Rice Mill, Shen Residence and Wang Tao Memorial require a separate combination or individual ticket; these small attractions usually open 08:30–17:00, while boats usually run until around 16:30.

Route length and surfaces

The quick route takes about 1–1.5 hours and the full route about 2–3 hours; the main streets are paved with stone, so wear comfortable flat shoes. Night visits, iron-flower performances and light shows are special programmes and should be confirmed by date and on-site notice rather than assumed to run every day.

Choose your visit

Baosheng Temple, twin bridges and waterways

Baosheng Temple, Sanyuan Bridge and Wan'an Bridge, and Jiangnan Culture Park form the main first-visit sights. The Ye Shengtao Memorial and Wansheng Rice Mill add literary and water-town history, while Nanshi Xia Tang and Hefeng Bridge are quieter areas for stone lanes, waterside homes and everyday scenes.

Who it suits

Luzhi suits visitors who prefer a quieter water town, photography and the work of Ye Shengtao. Families can use the culture park and shorter water-lane sections as easier stops; boats charge by boat, night activities are separate, and public transport finishes relatively early, so night visitors need a return plan first.

Build your day

A 1–1.5 hour route

Enter from the Visitor Centre, visit Baosheng Temple, then the Ye Shengtao Memorial and Wansheng Rice Mill, continue through Sanyuan Bridge and Wan'an Bridge, and return along the water. This short route covers cultural sights, bridges and lanes for a quick daytime introduction.

A 2–3 hour route

From the Visitor Centre, continue through Luzhi Square and Shen Residence to Baosheng Temple, Jiangnan Culture Park and Wansheng Rice Mill, then walk along Nanshi Xia Tang to Hefeng Bridge before returning. If you plan a night visit, confirm the programme time and entry requirements first, then choose areas such as the Xianghua Bridge line that are open that evening.

Get there

Public transport

From Suzhou Railway Station, take Metro Line 2 to Jingu Road Station (金谷路), Exit 2, transfer to Bus 52 and get off at Luzhi Ancient Town for the West Entrance. From Kunshan South Railway Station, a direct taxi is more practical. Bus 52 generally operates until around 20:30, which matters for night visits.

Driving and parking

Navigate to Luzhi Ancient Town Parking Lot 1 or Meihuashu Road Parking Lot. Lot 1 can be congested during holidays, while Meihuashu Road usually offers an easier arrangement. After parking, walk the Visitor Centre–Baosheng Temple–main-street loop instead of repeatedly driving inside the town.

Know before you go

Small attractions and repair work

Free entry to the town streets does not give direct access to every residence or museum, so confirm which attractions are included in the combination ticket and open that day. Some sites, such as Xiao Residence, may be under repair or closed; a ticket sign outside does not by itself prove that the site is open.

Night visits and return

Iron-flower shows, light shows and other night programmes depend on the date, weather and on-site arrangements, so confirm the end time before going out after dark. Bus services finish early, making a pre-arranged ride-hailing car or private car safer for night visitors; food along the main street can be repetitive, so confirm prices before ordering.
