Daytime hours and seasons

Tiger Hill Scenic Area is at 8 Tiger Hill Gate Road. For a daytime visit, entering through the South Gate and leaving through the North Gate is easier because the route generally slopes downhill. Admission is CNY 70 in the peak seasons of April–May and July–October, and CNY 60 in the low season; normal hours are 07:30–18:00 in peak season and 07:30–17:30 in the low season.

Summer night visits

Night visits may be scheduled in July and August, with a common arrangement of opening until 21:00, night entry from 18:30 and last ticket inspection at 20:00. Dates, performances and tower access depend on the current programme; night visitors enter through the South Gate only, so the daytime North Gate route does not apply.

Choose your visit

Pagoda, Sword Pool and historic buildings

The main sights are Yunyan Pagoda, Sword Pool, Broken Beam Hall, Thousand People Rock and Wanjing Villa. Yunyan Pagoda is worth viewing from the stone bridge in front or from Tower Shadow Bridge, while Sword Pool and the “Tiger Hill Sword Pool” inscription work best as part of the uphill route; Wanjing Villa adds bonsai and garden details.

Who it suits

Visitors interested in historic buildings, hills and water can take the full daytime route, while photographers can separate the tower reflection, Sword Pool and the open space at Thousand People Rock. There are slopes, steps and mosquitoes in shaded areas, so older visitors, children and summer visitors should adjust the pace to their energy and the weather.

Build your day

A 1.5–2 hour route

Enter through the South Gate and continue through Broken Beam Hall, Hanhanyuan, Trial Sword Rock, Thousand People Rock, Sword Pool and Tiger Hill Pagoda before leaving through the North Gate. This route covers the main landmarks and works well if you also plan to visit Shantang Street, Lingering Garden or another nearby stop.

A 3-hour route

Enter through the South Gate and add Cuiyong Villa, then continue through Hanhanyuan, Trial Sword Rock, Thousand People Rock, Sword Pool, Tiger Hill Pagoda, Wanjing Villa and the Li Hongzhang Shrine before leaving through the North Gate. If a summer night programme is operating, enter through the South Gate, follow the lantern corridor and performance areas, and return through the South Gate according to the areas open that evening.

Get there

Metro and buses

Take Metro Line 6 to Tiger Hill Station (虎丘), Exit 3 or 4, then walk about 400 metres, or five minutes, to the South Gate. Bus routes Tour 1, Tour 2 and the Tiger Hill shuttle stop at Tiger Hill or Tiger Hill Road; confirm the gate before travelling because daytime and night visits use different entrances.

Parking and walking inside

There is a parking lot near the South Gate; the reference charge is CNY 6 for the first hour and CNY 2 for each additional half-hour. Traffic can be heavy in peak seasons, so public transport is more reliable. The slopes are not continuously steep, but steps and walking distance remain part of the visit; choose between the sightseeing vehicle and walking according to your energy.

Know before you go

Sun, mosquitoes and shoes

Midday brings stronger sun and may bring larger crowds, while morning or after 15:00 is usually better for a slower walk. Bring water, sun protection and mosquito repellent in summer, and wear comfortable flat shoes with good grip; in-park products and commentary services cost extra.

Night-visit limits

Night visits are seasonal and tied to specific programmes, so performances, lighting and tower access are available only when that programme is operating. Set your navigation to the South Gate, and if you plan to leave through the North Gate, confirm the day's exit, lighting and return arrangements first.
