Plan at a glance

Entrance, scope and timing

Master of the Nets Garden is at 11 Kuojia Toutou Lane on Daichengqiao Road in Gusu District. The entrance is inside the lane, so look for the garden signs. The compact garden takes about 40 minutes on a quick visit or about 1.5 hours for the full daytime route; admission is CNY 40 in the peak season and CNY 30 in the low season.

Reservations and seasonal arrangements

Reserve and buy a real-name ticket through the official Suzhou Gardens Tourism WeChat account. From July 1 to August 31, summer hours are 07:30–17:30, with last entry at 17:00. The night garden is a separate seasonal cultural programme, commonly starting at 18:30 with a ticket around CNY 120 that includes a guide and performances; confirm the date and programme for the current season.

Choose your visit

Buildings and water views in a small garden

Dianchunyi, Moon Comes with the Wind Pavilion, Zhuoying Waterside Pavilion and Yinjing Bridge are the main first-visit sights, while Wanjuan Hall's brick gateway and Wufeng Study show the relationship between the residence and the garden. Reflections on the water, framed views through windows and the tiny three-step stone bridge make the garden especially suitable for visitors who enjoy architecture, garden photography and quiet walks.

Who it suits

Visitors who want a quick sense of the garden can choose the 40-minute route, while those who enjoy windows, screens and study spaces should allow 1.5 hours. The night programme adds Kunqu, Pingtan and classical dance to the garden route, so plan it as a separate evening cultural event rather than an extension of the daytime visit.

Build your day

A 40-minute route

Enter and continue through Wanjuan Hall, Wufeng Study, Dianchunyi, Moon Comes with the Wind Pavilion, Zhuoying Waterside Pavilion and Yinjing Bridge before leaving. The route is short and concentrated, making it easy to visit before a meal on Shiquan Street or another nearby garden.

A 1.5-hour route

Follow the short route, then add Zhu Wai Yi Zhi Xuan, Kansong Duhua Xuan, Tiyun Room and Xiaoshan Conggui Xuan, allowing time to look at the screens, windows and framed courtyard views. If you join the night programme, follow the organiser's guided sequence; the daytime ticket route and evening performances require separate planning.

Get there

Metro and walking

Take Metro Line 5 to Nanyuanbeilu Station (南园北路), Exit 4, turn left onto Daichengqiao Road and walk about 8–10 minutes. Bus routes 202 and 529 stop at Master of the Nets Garden; the lane entrance is not on a broad main road, so continue to the signs after getting off.

Driving and nearby movement

Parking in the old city is inconvenient, so driving is not the preferred option. If you must drive, consider the parking lots at Nanyuan Hotel or Nanlin Hotel and walk to the garden; Shiquan Street is about 5 minutes away on foot, while Canglang Pavilion and Ke Garden are about 10–15 minutes west.

Know before you go

Quiet periods and surfaces

Weekdays or the first entry at 07:30 on a weekend are usually better for avoiding tour groups. There is water throughout the garden and some surfaces may be slippery, so slow down near bridges, waterside platforms and narrow lanes.

Night programme and tickets

Night tickets, the guide and performances are separate from the regular daytime visit, and low-price tickets sold by touts outside are not worth the risk. If you choose the night programme, confirm the start time, performance content and return transport; food on Shiquan Street is also separate from the garden ticket.
