Plan at a glance
A compact Jigong culture stop
Jigong Former Residence is on Chicheng Road in Tiantai County, Taizhou. It is a modern reconstruction on a historical site. The visit focuses on Jigong-related stories, the Li family residence layout, and the garden space. It is not a fully preserved Song-dynasty house.
The site is small enough for a 1–2-hour visit and can be combined with Zhexi Old Street or another stop in Tiantai town. Visitors looking for a large historic complex or a long mountain walk should choose a different attraction for that purpose.
Entrance and opening arrangements
The usual entrance is near the twin memorial arches and Guanxia Pavilion. Ticketing, opening hours, and temporarily closed areas follow the day's on-site arrangements. A common planning window is 07:30–17:00, but last entry may be earlier, so leave time for entry and the return journey if arriving in the afternoon.

The Li family residence
The Li family residence presents halls, bedrooms, a study, and a Buddhist room. It helps first-time visitors understand the depth and courtyard arrangement of a traditional eastern Zhejiang residence. Take time to look at the building proportions, furniture, and displays instead of treating every room as a separate stop to rush through.
Longxi Garden and Guanxia Pavilion
Longxi Garden has ponds, pavilions, and garden paths. Guanxia Pavilion gives a higher view. Steps and slopes connect some areas, and access to the higher points depends on the day's opening arrangements and your group's mobility. Older adults and children can stay on the main garden paths.
The Jigong Hall and related culture
The Jigong Hall, related displays, and architectural details are the cultural focus of the visit. Divination, divination blocks, incense, and fortune interpretation are personal choices. Their fees and arrangements may vary, so they are not required steps in the route.
Build your day
A one-hour core route
Enter through the twin memorial arches, visit Guanxia Pavilion, then continue to the Li family residence, Longxi Garden, and the Jigong Hall before leaving. With limited time, keep the residence, garden, and Jigong displays. A temporary closure elsewhere does not prevent a basic visit.
This route works well as a short stop in Tiantai town. Most of the main path is fairly level, but thresholds, steps, and paths to higher pavilions still require a careful pace.
A slower half-day visit
With more time, spend longer in the halls, study, and garden before visiting the Jigong Hall. The corridors, courtyards, windows, and changing light are suitable for photography. Do not interfere with other visitors or religious activities.
Afterward, walk or take a short ride to Zhexi Old Street for food and a separate street walk. The residence and the old street are two different places, so count the walking time and return transport separately.
Get there
From Tiantai Mountain Station
From Tiantai Mountain Station, take a taxi to Jigong Former Residence. Local buses in Tiantai town are another option. Tell the driver the main gate or Twin Memorial Arches area rather than saying only “Tiantai town,” which may leave you far from the entrance.
Driving and parking
Parking near the site is limited. In busy periods, you may need to park in the surrounding area and walk. Note the car location before entering and confirm the walking direction before leaving.
If you also plan to visit Zhexi Old Street or another attraction, choose a parking place that makes it easy to reach the main road again. Do not circle congested streets repeatedly just to park beside the gate.
Know before you go
Set the right expectation for a reconstruction
Jigong Former Residence is a modern reconstruction on a historical site, not a group of untouched ancient buildings. Its value lies in the Jigong culture, residence layout, and garden space. If you are looking only for original Song-dynasty remains, the visit may not match that expectation.
Religious areas and spending
Divination, fortune interpretation, incense, and cultural products are optional personal choices. Keep quiet in the Jigong Hall and other religious spaces, follow photography and worship rules, and do not accept a paid service if its terms are unclear or you feel pressured.
Paths and temporary closures
The main route is fairly level, but upper pavilions, exhibition rooms, and some courtyards may close for repairs or management changes. Wear comfortable shoes and follow the on-site route. A short closure does not remove the main residence and garden from the visit.
