Plan at a glance
High-elevation forest and seasonal scenery
Huading National Forest Park is in Shiliang Town, Tiantai County, Taizhou. The summit is about 1,098 meters above sea level. The main attractions are high-elevation forest, Yunjin rhododendrons, tea gardens, Huading Temple, and viewpoints. Flowering, rime, snow, cloud, and visibility depend on the season and weather, so set the day's targets after checking the conditions.
Huading has different roads and entrances from Guoqing, the Waterfall, and Chicheng Mountain. It is better as a half-day or full-day stop of its own than as a last-minute addition to a tight transfer plan.
How much time to allow
A shuttle from the visitor center followed by a short forest and temple route usually needs half a day. A hike from a lower trailhead requires a longer outdoor plan. Mountain-road traffic, shuttle waits, snow controls, and the return vehicle all affect the actual schedule.
Tickets, mountain shuttles, private-car access, and summit facilities may be managed separately. Before setting out, confirm whether private cars can drive up that day, where the shuttle leaves from, and how you will return to the foot of the mountain.

Yunjin rhododendrons and forest paths
The Yunjin rhododendrons are a major late-spring feature. In other seasons, the forest, mountain paths, and high views become the main reasons to visit. Flowering varies each year, so do not expect every tree to be in bloom on your date.
Huading Temple and tea gardens
Huading Temple, the misty tea gardens, and the mountain paths suit visitors who enjoy temples, tea culture, and a quiet natural setting. Picking tea, making tea, or joining a garden activity depends on the day's arrangements and is not guaranteed.
Guiyun Pavilion and Baijing Platform
Guiyun Pavilion and Baijing Platform offer high views. Clear weather may open up the mountain scenery, while fog shifts the experience toward nearby forest and mist. Visibility and wet ground affect whether it is sensible to continue to the higher sections.
Build your day
A shuttle-based short route
Start at the foot-of-the-mountain visitor center. Confirm the shuttle stop and which summit areas are open, then choose among the rhododendron groves, Huading Temple, tea gardens, and viewpoints. This shorter plan works for families and for days when the weather is changing quickly.
Before returning, confirm the shuttle departure time and pick-up point. Do not let your summit stop run close to the last departure, because fog, snow, or road controls may add waiting time.
A summit forest route
With good fitness, you can link the rhododendron groves, temple, tea gardens, and Guiyun Pavilion into a half-day walk. Follow the paths open that day. If you meet ice, standing water, dense fog, or a repair area, return to the nearest safe point.
This route suits visitors with non-slip shoes and warm layers. The summit is usually cooler than the foot of the mountain, and wet ground and photo stops slow the walk. Do not schedule another attraction too tightly after coming down.
Hiking in from below
The trails from lower villages such as Tianfeng Village are separate outdoor routes, not a longer version of the visitor-center shuttle loop. Prepare an offline map, water, rain protection, and a return plan. Confirm that the trail is suitable for the day's conditions before starting.
Get there
From Tiantai Mountain Station
From Tiantai Mountain Station, go first to the Huading National Forest Park visitor center, then follow the day's shuttle arrangement uphill. Bus and taxi drop-off points may differ. Tell the driver “Huading visitor center” rather than only “Huading Temple,” which may send the vehicle toward a summit road.
Driving and road controls
Before driving, confirm whether private cars can use the mountain road. On holidays, during snow or ice, or when traffic is heavy, cars may need to stop at the foot of the mountain and transfer to a park vehicle. Foot-of-mountain parking and summit parking are separate arrangements.
If you take the shuttle, note the parking position and the final return stop before going up. Do not plan to find a last-minute taxi at the summit.
Know before you go
Flowering, rime, and cloud
Yunjin rhododendrons, rime, snow, cloud, sunrise, and sunset all depend on the season and weather. None can be guaranteed. In dense fog, do not enter a ridge or edge path with poor visibility to look for a cloud view. Keep the return route clear.
Warmth and traction
Mountain paths can ice up or hold water after rain or snow. Wear shoes with good grip and bring warm layers, a hat, and gloves. Supplies are limited at the top, so carry water and simple food from the start. If the ice is too severe for safe walking, do not continue.
Signs and temporary management
Signs and phone coverage may be inconsistent on some forest paths. Download an offline map before hiking and make sure your companions know the return direction. Shuttles, roads, gardens, the temple, and viewpoints may change with repairs or weather. Follow the route staff provide or return.
