Plan at a glance
The raft finish and a low-effort cultural stop
Wuyi Palace is at the mouth of the Yiqu section of the Jiuquxi River, near Song Street, and is the practical finish of the bamboo-raft route. The area is mainly flat, with cultural buildings, riverside views, and short walks. It suits families with older adults or children, visitors who do not want another climb, and anyone who wants an easier section after getting off the raft.
The quick visit takes about one hour. With the Spring and Autumn Hall, Zhu Xi Memorial Hall, Liu Yong Memorial Hall, Guanyu Place, and the outside of Zhizhi Nunnery, allow 2–3 hours. Continuing to Dawang Peak, Yunu Peak, Huxiao Rock, or One-Line Sky turns this into a deeper route of about four hours.
Ticket and entrance differences
The core area currently requires advance real-name reservation, and Wuyi Palace normally has no separate attraction admission fee. If you enter through the South Gate, you still need to consider the sightseeing-shuttle product. If you take Bus 9 or a taxi directly to the Wuyi Palace checkpoint, you can usually avoid buying the shuttle product, but this does not bypass the core-area reservation and does not mean that every nearby facility or attraction is free.

The Spring and Autumn Hall, old trees, and Song Street
The Spring and Autumn Hall area includes old trees associated with the Song period and gives visitors a flat route for understanding Wuyi Palace's cultural setting. Song Street is a roughly 300-metre traditional-style pedestrian street that works well with Wuyi Palace and the riverside walk. It does not need to be treated as a shopping stop.
This area suits visitors interested in traditional buildings, tea culture, and photography. If someone in the group has limited fitness, stay around Song Street, the hall, and the main palace instead of adding a mountain climb just to collect another stop.
Guanyu Place and the outside of Zhizhi Nunnery
Guanyu Place is near the river and has an open view towards Yunu Peak and the water. Zhizhi Nunnery has white walls, bamboo, and trees around its entrance, which makes it suitable for a short stop. The interior access and the area open to visitors can change; do not assume that the religious buildings are fully open.
Wuyi Palace works well as a section where scenery and rest happen together. Its value is not in completing every surrounding mountain path, but in providing a calm adjustment between the raft, climbs, and shuttle transfers.
Build your day
Quick route: Song Street, Wuyi Palace, and Guanyu Place
Enter through the Wuyi Palace side, walk along Song Street, visit the main palace, and continue to Guanyu Place before leaving by the route you confirmed. The visit takes about one hour and suits visitors who have just finished the raft, have limited time, or should avoid a long walk.
If you arrive directly by bus or taxi, you do not need to detour to the South Gate to buy a sightseeing-shuttle product. You still need to confirm the return stop and direction; easy arrival does not guarantee an easy return.
A relaxed two-to-three-hour flat route
Use Song Street, the Spring and Autumn Hall, the Zhu Xi Memorial Hall, the Liu Yong Memorial Hall, Guanyu Place, and the outside of Zhizhi Nunnery as a flexible sequence. Adjust the time according to the light, the group's energy, and the areas open on the day instead of rushing through a checklist.
If the interior of Zhizhi Nunnery is restricted, keep the visit to the entrance and outside setting. Respect the on-site management and do not enter through side doors, over barriers, or along non-visitor paths.
A deeper route towards Dawang Peak
Stronger hikers can start at Wuyi Palace, climb Dawang Peak, view Yunu Peak from outside, and then follow the Green Field Path towards Huxiao Rock and One-Line Sky. This is a roughly four-hour walking combination and goes beyond a short, flat Wuyi Palace visit.
Before starting, confirm the path opening, the group's fitness, and the return shuttle. If you have already taken the raft, rest at Wuyi Palace first and then decide whether to continue rather than ignoring the fatigue after disembarking.
Get there
Sightseeing shuttle and Bus 9
From the South or North Gate Visitor Centre, buy the sightseeing-shuttle product and take the vehicle to the Wuyi Palace stop. Visitors staying in Sangu Resort can also take Bus 9 and get off around “Wuyishanzhuang (Wuyi Palace),” then walk a few minutes to the entrance.
The raft finishes near Wuyi Palace Wharf, so Wuyi Palace and Song Street are natural first stops after disembarking. If you want to continue to Tianyou Peak or Dahongpao, confirm the shuttle direction again; the wharf is not a simple walking starting point for every attraction.
Driving and taxis
Cars and taxis can navigate to Wuyishanzhuang or the checkpoint near Wuyi Palace, but private cars generally cannot enter the core walking area. Park in a suitable nearby area, then walk or transfer in.
If you only want Wuyi Palace, Song Street, and Guanyu Place, a direct bus or taxi can involve fewer transfers than entering through the South Gate. Before leaving, confirm whether a vehicle can collect you at the checkpoint, especially in the evening or during holidays.
Know before you go
Flat walking does not cover every connected area
The main Wuyi Palace visit is mostly flat, but routes towards Dawang Peak, Huxiao Rock, and One-Line Sky involve climbs and longer paths. Keep the low-effort Wuyi Palace visit separate from the surrounding mountain route; do not describe the whole linked itinerary as flat.
Religious and cultural spaces such as Zhizhi Nunnery may have restrictions on interior access. Being able to see the entrance does not guarantee access to every hall, permission to photograph every area, or participation in a temporary activity.
Song Street spending and tea sales
Food and small goods inside Song Street may cost more than in other parts of the resort area. Ask the price and contents before buying. People near the entrance may promote local restaurants, low-price tea-factory visits, or unofficial tickets; do not treat these suggestions as part of the official itinerary.
If you want to buy tea, check the name, origin, price, and return conditions first. Wuyi Palace is a sightseeing stop, not a place where visitors must buy tea or join a tasting activity.
Timing and light
The light around 15:00–16:00 is often useful for photographing stone inscriptions, water, and buildings, but crowds, weather, and light change. Treat this as a planning suggestion, not a promise of empty paths or ideal conditions.
Wuyi Palace is the actual finish of the raft route. If you plan to continue elsewhere, confirm the last shuttle and return plan first. Once the final connection is missed, finding transport from the core area is much harder than continuing a short walk within Wuyi Palace.
