How to Visit
1

Treat Qiankun Bay as a large Yellow River scenic area

Qiankun Bay is not just one viewpoint. The scenic area is large and can include Qiankun Bay, Qingshui Bay, Huifengzhai, Yellow River walkways, and other stops.

Tip:For a first visit, allow at least most of a day. If you want sunrise, sunset, or a cave-dwelling stay, plan a full day or overnight.
2

Decide whether you need only the core view or a fuller route

Ticket platforms may show different prices and combinations, including entrance tickets, shuttle buses, Huifengzhai cableway, rafting, theater or dome-cinema projects, and other add-ons.

Tip:Do not look only at the lowest entry price. Check whether transport is included and whether you actually plan to visit Huifengzhai, Qingshui Bay, or other scattered stops.
3

Plan the route around scenic-area transport

The main points inside Qiankun Bay are far apart, and during holidays or peak periods visitors usually need to transfer from the visitor center by sightseeing bus.

Tip:Whether private cars can enter during quieter periods depends on same-day scenic-area management, so if you are unsure, plan around the visitor-center transfer.
4

Separate Qiankun Bay from Qingshui Bay

Qiankun Bay is the classic big-bend viewpoint and should come first if time is limited. Qingshui Bay gives a different river bend, walkway, and old ferry setting.

Tip:If you are short on time, prioritize the main Qiankun Bay viewpoint; add Qingshui Bay and Huifengzhai only with enough time and energy.
Highlights
  • Qiankun Bay is one of the most representative Yellow River bend views in Yanchuan.
  • Qingshui Bay adds a different river-walkway and old-ferry experience.
  • Huifengzhai combines Yellow River views with a cliffside fortress setting.
  • Clear weather, early morning, and late afternoon give the river bends more depth.
  • It pairs well with Liangjiahe and Wen'anyi for a Yanchuan day route.
Insider Tips

Ticket information varies by platform, so check what is included before paying.

The scenic area is large; do not plan it like a single roadside viewpoint.

Sun and wind are strong in northern Shaanxi, so bring sun protection, a hat, and a light layer.

Huifengzhai and walkway sections involve walking or climbing, so wear comfortable shoes with grip.

If you want sunrise or sunset, stay near the scenic area or in the Yanchuan direction instead of rushing from central Yan'an at the last minute.
