Plan at a glance

A large park with animals, plants, and canal scenery

Zhuyuwan Scenic Area is at 888 Zhuyuwan Road in Wantou Town. Locally, the entrance area is often called Yangzhou Zoo. The park combines animal exhibits, plant landscapes, and a canal peninsula. It is much larger and more tiring than a normal city park, so do not plan it as a casual one-hour walk.

The adult ticket is CNY 60 in the peak season and CNY 45 in the low season. Peak season is usually March–June and September–November; low season is usually December–February and July–August. Children under 1.4 metres are free. Advance reservations are usually not required. Opening hours are 07:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:45.

The animal-focused route takes about 1.5–2 hours. To see the main animals plus some plants and canal scenery, allow 3–4 hours. Walking distance, stamina, and weather make a noticeable difference, so carry water and wear comfortable shoes.

Decide whether animals or the full park come first

If the group mainly wants animals, put the pandas, capybaras, flamingos, giraffes, and monkey area in the first half of the visit. If you prefer a broader outdoor walk, add Crane Lake, the plant areas, the dogwood woods, and the canal peninsula afterward. Choose the main goal before trying to cover the whole park.

The sightseeing car costs about CNY 15 per person and may operate as a hop-on service according to the day's arrangement. It can reduce some walking but does not replace every exhibit. Check the stops and whether another ticket is required before boarding.

Choose your visit

Pandas, capybaras, and birds

Pandas Yueyue and Laolao are among the park's popular animals. Visit the panda area earlier in the day, then continue to the capybaras, flamingos, and monkey area. Animal activity changes with weather, care routines, and time, so an earlier visit gives you a better chance of completing the main animal stops.

The flamingo and bird areas work well for families. Do not tap on glass or offer food to the animals. If a feeding activity is offered that day, follow the staff's time and instructions.

Giraffes, golden monkeys, and herbivores

Giraffes and golden monkeys fit well in the middle of the animal route. The herbivore area can be added according to your group's stamina. Some feeding experiences may cost extra and are separate from the CNY 60 or CNY 45 admission ticket.

Animal photographers should expect railings, glass, and visitor distance. If an area is crowded or the animals are inactive, continue to another exhibit and return later if time allows.

Crane Lake, plants, and the canal peninsula

Crane Lake, bamboo, the circular entrance, the capybara sculpture, and lotus areas offer photo and rest stops. Plant scenery changes by season. Spring flowers and the dogwood woods are seasonal features, not year-round guarantees.

The canal peninsula is a good slower section after the animal areas. If the weather is hot or the park is crowded, shorten this part rather than walking until the group is exhausted.

Build your day

The 1.5- to 2-hour animal route

Enter through the main gate and go first to the pandas. Continue to the capybaras, flamingos, giraffes, monkey area, and bird exhibits, then return toward the entrance and leave.

This route suits families, visitors with limited time, or anyone visiting another attraction later. If there is a queue or an animal is temporarily inactive, move on and return on the way back so the whole visit stays flexible.

The three- to four-hour full route

Start with the pandas and main animal areas, then continue through the capybaras, flamingos, giraffes, predators, and herbivores. Add Crane Lake, the bamboo and dogwood areas, the canal peninsula, and views toward the distant tower before returning to the exit.

This is a long walking route. Use the sightseeing car or take a water break at an open rest area. The car costs about CNY 15 per person, but its stops and operating hours follow the day's arrangement. Do not choose the car at the expense of the animal exhibit you most want to see.

Night events and extra activities

The park may offer a seasonal “Wonderful Night” event, but this is not part of the standard daytime ticket. Night-event opening, admission time, and price should be handled separately. A daytime ticket of CNY 60 or CNY 45 does not automatically cover the evening.

An aquarium, circus, feeding activity, or similar project may also charge separately. Families should first check the day's activity list and then decide whether to add anything after protecting the main animal route.

Get there

Bus

Take bus 32 toward Zhuyuwan and walk from the stop to the main entrance. Include the bus wait and the final walk in the total journey, especially if you want to arrive near the 07:00 opening or before the 16:45 last admission.

Zhuyuwan is relatively far from the main old-town attractions. Plan it as a half-day destination or combine it with other stops in Wantou rather than treating it as a continuous walk from Dongguan Street or Geyuan.

Driving and parking

Parking costs about CNY 2–4 per hour. Holiday traffic is heavier. After parking, note the main gate and the vehicle location because the park is large and the exit walk can be long.

If one person is not walking the full route, agree on a meeting point at the main entrance or a sightseeing-car stop. Arrange children, older adults, and luggage before one person returns to the car.

Food and supplies nearby

Food inside the park is limited and may be expensive. Carry water and a small snack, and follow the park's rules about food and animal feeding. Outside the park, Wantou-area markets and food around Yuqi City and Huaxing Market are about a 10–15-minute walk away and can work after the visit.

Putting the main meal after leaving the park makes the timing easier to control. If you need to return to the city in the afternoon, confirm the bus or taxi direction before stopping outside.

Know before you go

Seasonal prices and last admission

The adult ticket is CNY 60 in peak season and CNY 45 in low season. Children under 1.4 metres are free. Opening hours are 07:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:45. Peak and low seasons usually follow March–June and September–November, versus December–February and July–August; the price is seasonal rather than a single year-round rate.

Advance reservation is usually not required, but check the day's ticket and admission arrangements when you arrive. If you want a night event, feeding activity, or extra show, confirm whether it has a separate ticket or queue.

Stamina, weather, and animal safety

The park is large and walking-heavy. Wear flat shoes and bring water, sun protection, and rain protection. In summer, animal activity may be lower around midday, so place the pandas and other priority animals earlier and leave plants, canals, and rest stops for later.

Do not tap on glass, cross barriers, or feed animals with your own food. Keep a safe distance and supervise children around every exhibit.

Sightseeing car and photography

The sightseeing car costs about CNY 15 per person and can reduce the longest transfer. Check the day's stops and return arrangement before boarding, especially if you are far from the main entrance. The car may not cover every animal area in the order you want.

Bamboo, the circular entrance, the capybara sculpture, and lotus areas are useful photo points. Popular spots can become crowded. Animal behaviour, flowering, and weather all change, so do not spend the whole visit waiting for one photograph.
