Plan at a glance
Make time for the water and reeds
Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park is in Zhangzheng Town (掌政镇), Xingqing District, about 9 km from central Yinchuan. Its lakes, mudflats, reeds, and waterbirds are the main draw. There is also wetland interpretation, a viewing tower, and water-based activities. If you mainly want scenery, take your time on the trails; if you plan to boat or join a family activity, check what is open that day.
A short nature walk or a longer activity visit
Allow about two hours for a walk in the open areas and views over the lake. If you want to take a boat through the reed maze, climb the tower, or join a family activity, allow more time; half a day is more relaxed. The park is large, so choose one or two priorities rather than trying to cover every route in a short visit.

Choose your visit
Look for birds and wetland plants
Mingcui Lake is a lake wetland in the Yellow River basin. Birds and plants are especially active in spring and summer, while reeds are a feature of autumn. Watch from open trails rather than following birds. Stop at an interpretation point or viewing tower to learn about the wetland and choose a walking pace that suits your group.
Take a boat through the reed maze
The park has developed a reed-maze sightseeing boat route of around 3 km, alongside other low-impact boat experiences. Actual routes, boat types, trip durations, and departure times depend on the services operating that day.
Join a family or learning activity
The park offers wetland education and family activities. In recent years, programmes have included the “Wetland Little Guardians” learning course and seasonal pumpkin and scarecrow events. Activities change from year to year. Before travelling with children, check the current programme and age requirements. If there is no event that day, birdwatching, plants, and the viewing tower can make a relaxed nature lesson.
Check autumn and winter activities by season
In autumn, look for reeds, straw installations, and harvest-themed events. The Mingcui Lake ski area ended its previous winter season in February 2026; dates for the next season have not yet been announced. Do not plan around last year’s pumpkin events, ice activities, or ski schedule as if they ran on the same dates every year.
Build your day
Choose between walking and boating at the entrance
At the visitor centre, check the map for open areas, piers, and the viewing tower. Before boarding, ask which route the boat ticket covers, whether it is a round trip, where you get off, and when the last boat leaves. If you prefer to walk, choose an open stretch of shoreline near the entrance instead of trying to cover the entire park.
Combine a boat ride with a walk on shore
If the reed-maze boat is running, confirm the boarding time first, then plan the wetland centre, viewing tower, or trail before or after the ride. If service is suspended, there is a queue, or the weather changes, switch to a shoreline walk, exhibition, or rest stop. The park is too large, and seasonal services too variable, for a fixed minute-by-minute schedule.
Leave time for the return trip
Walking, photos, and waiting for a boat can all delay your departure. Check the last bus or ride-hailing pickup point before you start. If you are relying on the bus, allow time to walk to the stop and wait. Do not plan to stay beyond closing time.
Get there
Navigate to the east side of Zhangzheng Town
The park is on the east side of Zhangzheng Town in Xingqing District, roughly 1 km east of the town. Choose “银川鸣翠湖国家湿地公园” (Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park) on your map and check the entrance location. This helps avoid being routed to Yuehai Park or another wetland destination nearby.
Check current bus routes
Look up live bus services from central Yinchuan to Zhangzheng Town and the area around the park. Some public transport guides may be out of date, so before leaving confirm the current service, the stop closest to the entrance, and the last return bus. You can also call the park on 0951-6121959 or 0951-6121966.
Drive or arrange a return ride
You can drive to the park entrance; parking fees are posted at the entrance. The area is some distance from town, so confirm a ride-hailing pickup point before setting out, especially if you plan to leave in the evening.
Know before you go
Check hours and ticket details for your date
Opening times may change by season, and boats have their own operating schedule. Before buying a ticket, confirm the last entry time, whether boats are running, and what any package includes. For enquiries, call 0951-6121959 or 0951-6121966.
Protect the wetland
Keep your distance from birds and speak quietly. Do not feed them or enter closed water areas. Follow staff instructions on boats and in family activities. Weather, visitor numbers, and conservation needs may lead to temporary changes in services.
