Visit after Yueyang Tower

Bianhe Street sits close to Yueyang Tower, so it works best right after the scenic area. It is not worth a long detour on its own, but it is very useful for food, rest, and connecting to the lakeside route.

Treat it as a short food-and-walk street

The street is not long. Walking slowly, trying snacks, and taking a few photos usually takes about 1-2 hours. Do not expect a deeply preserved historic street; its main value is as a visitor-friendly, antique-style commercial street with food options.

Come at lunch or in the evening

At noon, it works well for lunch. In the evening, the lanterns and street lights make it more photogenic. By itself in the daytime, it may feel light, so pair it with Yueyang Tower and Baling Square.

Choose food with some judgment

You can try meat pies, tangyou baba, stinky tofu, rice noodles, Pingjiang dried tofu, or lake-fish dishes, but you do not need to buy from every stall. For a sit-down meal, check the menu and prices first.

Continue to Baling Square afterward

After Bianhe Street, walk on to Baling Square to see the Houyi Slaying the Ba Snake sculpture and the Dongting Lake waterfront. This gives you a better sense of the Yueyang Tower area than leaving by taxi immediately.
