Location and entrance
Fusheng Temple is in Guang Village, Zezhang Town, Xinjiang County, Yuncheng. A sign at the village entrance points to it; navigate to “Fusheng Temple” to reach the scenic-area main gate. Driving from central Yuncheng takes about 1.5 hours, and there is free parking beside the temple. Jade Emperor Temple is normally closed, so keep “Fusheng Temple” as your navigation target.
Ticket and opening
Admission is about CNY 20 per person, with free entry for visitors aged 60 or above. Opening hours are 08:00–17:30, with no reservation required. The ticket price and free-entry checks are handled on site, and the visit depends on which buildings are open when you arrive.
How much time to allow
Allow about 30–40 minutes for Amitabha Hall, the hanging sculpture of Guanyin Crossing the Sea, the Wisdom Kings and the Three Buddha Cave. Allow 1–1.5 hours for the complete sequence through Heavenly Kings Hall, Amitabha Hall and the rear hall. Fusheng Temple works well with Longxing Temple in Xinjiang County as a heritage day; the two have separate entrances and opening checks.

Amitabha Hall and the Three Saints of the West
Amitabha Hall is an original Yuan-dynasty structure. Its front interior holds painted sculptures of the Three Saints of the West from the Yuan dynasty. First look at the building exterior and brackets, then enter to see how the sculptures occupy the space. From an open position, observe the drapery, proportions and relationship among the figures.
The hanging sculpture of Guanyin Crossing the Sea
The Yuan-dynasty group behind Amitabha Hall, showing Guanyin Crossing the Sea, is Fusheng Temple’s most recognisable feature. Guanyin’s ribbons and pose have the three-dimensional quality typical of hanging sculpture. Viewing distance, the number of visitors who may stop and the lighting follow the hall’s management; do not touch the sculpture or use flash.
Wisdom Kings and the Three Buddha Cave
The three-headed, six-armed Wisdom King figures may be especially recognisable to visitors familiar with *Black Myth: Wukong*, and their poses and sculptural details are worth close attention. The Three Buddha Cave in the rear hall contains Yuan- and Ming-dynasty painted sculptures and bodhisattva figures with masculine features. Its reopening arrangements may change, so whether it can be entered depends on the conditions when you arrive.

A 30–40-minute short route
After entering through the mountain gate, go directly to Amitabha Hall. See the Three Saints of the West at the front, then Guanyin Crossing the Sea at the back and the Wisdom Kings on both sides. Continue to the Three Buddha Cave in the rear hall and leave towards the exit. This route spends time on the sculptures rather than empty courtyard space and suits a Xinjiang heritage day with tight transport timing.
A 1–1.5-hour complete route
Follow Mountain Gate → Heavenly Kings Hall → Amitabha Hall → Three Saints of the West → Guanyin Crossing the Sea at the back → Ming-dynasty arhats on both sides → Three Buddha Cave in the rear hall. At each hall, look at the building before the figures. After the cave, return towards the main gate and car park; visitors without a car should leave by the bus or pick-up arrangement already in place.
Guides and pacing
There is no fixed official guide, but the temple caretaker may offer an explanation for about CNY 30 per session. Availability and the fee can change, so ask on arrival. If no guide is available, view the halls quietly using the notices inside and do not wait so long that you miss the return bus.
Get there
Driving and parking
Navigate to “Fusheng Temple” in Guang Village. Free parking is beside the temple. Village roads and the space at the entrance are limited, so park where directed and keep residents’ access and temple entrances clear. The drive from central Yuncheng takes about 1.5 hours; plan the return around the mountain road and transfer conditions.
Public transport
Take high-speed rail from Yuncheng to Houma West Railway Station, a journey of about 22 minutes. Then take Houma bus 36 to Xinjiang and change to a local bus, such as route 12, for the temple. Township buses are infrequent, with intervals of about 40 minutes that can change, so settle the return after reaching Xinjiang.
Connecting with Longxing Temple
Longxing Temple in Xinjiang County town can be visited on the same day. The county town is about 12 kilometres from Fusheng Temple, roughly 20 minutes by car. The two have separate tickets and no dedicated direct bus; set the order around each site’s opening hours, then arrange the vehicle between the county town and the village.
Know before you go
Interior conservation rules
Photography inside the halls is allowed only where staff permit it. Flash is prohibited, and do not touch the hanging sculptures, painted sculptures, timber or walls. When it is busy, leave the doorway and narrow passages clear; if photography is allowed, a phone’s night mode can replace flash without disturbing other visitors or the conservation environment.
Transport and supplies in the townships
Supplies around Fusheng Temple are limited and return buses can be sparse, so carry drinking water and a small snack before entering the village area. Xinjiang County town has stir-fried liangfen, handmade flatbread, wanhuang mung-bean cakes and Jiangzhou hot pot. Leave after eating according to the transport you have arranged rather than waiting for a vehicle with no fixed schedule.
Changing access
Jade Emperor Temple is normally closed, and the Three Buddha Cave’s access may change. Plan first for Amitabha Hall and Guanyin Crossing the Sea, then add or drop the cave according to the conditions when you arrive. Do not cross barriers or enter closed halls.
