Location and entrance
Guangren Wang Temple is on high ground at the north end of Zhonglongquan Village in Ruicheng County. Navigate to “Guangren Wang Temple”; the entrance is the scenic area’s main gate. From the temple front, you can look north towards the Zhongtiao Mountains and south towards the Yellow River, so it is worth taking in the setting before entering the courtyard.
Ticket and hours
Admission is CNY 15 per person, with no reservation required. Opening hours are 08:30–17:00. This is a small, separately ticketed heritage stop; Yongle Palace’s CNY 60/40 ticket, shoe-cover rule and mural regulations do not apply here.
How much time to allow
Allow about 1 hour for the Tang-dynasty main hall, its timber frame and the Tang steles. Add the stage, the view from the temple front and the educational corridor for a 1–2-hour visit. The courtyard is compact, but the main hall’s structure rewards a slow look, making the temple a good half-day or full-day companion to Yongle Palace in Ruicheng.

The Tang-dynasty main hall
The main hall was built in 831 and is one of the few surviving Tang timber structures, as well as a Taoist timber building. Its single-eave hip-and-gable roof, broad low profile and deep eaves show Tang architectural proportions; the interior has no columns, leaving the beam frame unusually open.
Tang steles and the memory of water management
The wall in front of the hall contains Tang steles including the “Record of Guangren Wang at Longquan” (《广仁王龙泉记》), one of which predates the main hall by more than 20 years. The inscriptions connect this small temple with Longquan and local water-management history. Read them for a few minutes after looking at the timber frame.
Stage, corridor and seasonal views
The Qing-dynasty stage opposite the main hall is a good place to read the courtyard’s axis. The educational corridor includes carved diagrams of bracket sets from other Tang timber buildings in Shanxi. When apricot trees flower in spring, the blossoms and main hall make a natural composition; in other seasons, focus on the eaves, brackets and stele details.

An approximately 1-hour short route
After entering, start at the stage, then walk to the Tang main hall. Go inside to see the column-free beam frame and brackets, then return to the front of the hall for the Tang steles. This order establishes the courtyard setting first and saves the main time for the hall, making it a useful short stop before or after Yongle Palace.
A 1–2-hour complete route
On arrival, first look from the high ground in front of the temple towards the Zhongtiao Mountains and Yellow River. Then enter and visit the Qing-dynasty stage, Tang main hall, Tang steles in front of the hall and educational corridor in sequence. Inside the main hall, observe the eave depth, column layout and beam frame before walking around the courtyard for detail photographs. Leave through the main gate and return to the car park.
Connecting with Yongle Palace
Guangren Wang Temple is about 1–2 kilometres from Yongle Palace, roughly 10 minutes by car, so the two can be visited on the same day. A more reliable approach is to confirm that both are open and then choose the order around their hours. They have separate tickets and entrances, and you need a car or taxi between them.
Get there
Driving and parking
Navigate to “Guangren Wang Temple.” A free car park is on the left of the main entrance. Park there and enter through the main gate; roadside parking zones in the county town are not fixed, so use the space available on site and keep village roads clear.
Public transport
You can first reach Ruicheng County town, then change to local transport or a taxi. Direct services and return times are not fixed. If you are not driving, arrange both the outward and departure connections after reaching Ruicheng rather than assuming a village entrance will have a vehicle waiting.
Food in Ruicheng
Near Ruicheng People’s Hospital and opposite Ruicheng Hotel on Yabao South Road, cooked-meat shops serve local food such as flatbread stuffed with meat and pork-tripe soup. There is also Jianhong Braised Meat Restaurant at the traffic lights opposite Chenghuang Temple. Restaurant hours and parking convenience depend on the day; do not count on food supplies inside the heritage courtyard.
Know before you go
How the restored temple looks
Guangren Wang Temple underwent a major dismantling-and-reconstruction restoration in 2013, and the courtyard also has modern landscape design, so the buildings may look newer than expected. Focus on the Tang beam frame, brackets, eaves and steles rather than looking for a particular “weathered” appearance; the structural details are the important part of the visit.
Conservation and photography
Stand in an open courtyard position for a full view of the main hall. When photographing the beam frame and eaves, do not touch the timber, steles or railings. Apricot blossoms and the educational corridor make good subjects in spring, but do not break branches, enter closed areas or block other visitors for a photograph.
A sensible pace
The courtyard is small, and the CNY 15 ticket suits a focused architectural stop. If your companions want only a brief visit, keep the main hall and Tang steles; visitors interested in architectural history can add the view from the temple front and the corridor.
