Plan the tea fields, cableway and hot spring separately
Xiangwo Mountain Ecological Park is in Taiping Town, Xinxing County, Yunfu, at about 868 metres above sea level. The main admission is listed at around CNY 50 per person and generally includes the sightseeing shuttle plus a CNY 50 voucher that can be used for the cableway or tea. An online admission-and-return-cableway package is listed at about CNY 95, while hotel guests usually receive free main admission.
The park is open all day. The Feitian Silkworm Cableway is listed at about 08:30–18:30; weekend and holiday hours may be extended, so confirm the day’s operating arrangement. Admission, shuttle, cableway, hotel access and the Yunquangu hot spring are separate benefits, so check the ticket terms carefully.
Half a day, a full day or one night
The cableway, Elephant Heart Platform and Small Great Wall take about 3–4 hours. Add the tea museum, Tea Ridge trail and tea-making activities for a full day. A hotel stay with the hot spring, evening activities and a morning walk works better over two days and one night.

Tea fields and high viewpoints
The Feitian Silkworm Cableway takes about 9–10 minutes and gives views over the tea fields and valleys. Elephant Heart Platform, Elephant Sun Platform, the Small Great Wall and the Sky Camping Area are spread across the upper mountain, so allow walking time after getting off the cableway.
The Tea Ridge trail is about 5 kilometres long and passes the old educated-youth tea garden and mature tea trees. It suits a light hike, but the summit has limited supplies, so carry water and keep the return cableway time in mind.
Tea culture and a hot-spring stay
The Zen Tea Museum is free and explains Xiangwo tea, tea ceremony and tea-making activities. Yunquangu Hot Spring has tea, mugwort and lakeside pools plus steam rooms, but it is a separate resort activity. Families, tea enthusiasts, light hikers and hot-spring visitors can choose different levels of activity here.
Visitors who do not want a long walk can focus on the shuttle, cableway and viewpoints. If you want sunset or an early-morning view, consider the cableway’s last service and your hotel location before going up; do not wait until dark to decide.
Build your day
3–4 hours: cableway short route
Main gate → sightseeing shuttle or drive to the cableway station → Feitian Silkworm Cableway → Elephant Heart Platform → Elephant Sun Platform → Small Great Wall → cableway down. The cableway station has parking, and using it directly can reduce one shuttle transfer when the upper lot is not full.
This route suits first-time visitors, families and people with limited time. Check the last cableway service before staying at the Sky Camping Area or another upper-mountain viewpoint.
One day: tea fields, trail and hot spring
Zen Tea Museum → tea-field shuttle → Feitian Silkworm Cableway → Tea Ridge trail, Wanxiang Platform and Sky Camping Area → tea-picking and tea-making activity after descending → Yunquangu Hot Spring. Whether you walk the full trail depends on the wind, temperature and your group’s condition.
If you want the hot spring in the afternoon, finish the cableway and upper-mountain walk early. There are no reliable shops at the top, so prepare lunch, water and simple supplies before going up.
Two days and one night: separate sunset and morning
After checking in, walk through the tea fields, take the cableway or use the hotel viewpoint for sunset, and use Yunquangu Hot Spring in the evening. On the second morning, take a light hike, try tea-making and walk around the lake before leaving.
The evening fire-pot performance, bonfire and hotel dining depend on the day’s programme or accommodation package. After the cableway stops, use the hotel lobby, restaurant or viewpoint for the evening scene rather than rushing for a final ride.
Get there
Drive to the gate or cableway station
Navigate to “Xiangwo Hotel” or “Xiangwo Mountain Ecological Park Main Gate”. Driving from Guangzhou or Foshan takes about 2–2.5 hours, followed by 20–30 minutes on a winding mountain road after leaving the expressway. Slow down once you enter the mountain section.
Both the main gate and cableway station have parking. Navigate directly to the cableway station if you want to reduce shuttle transfers; if you park at the main gate, follow the on-site shuttle arrangement.
High-speed rail and taxi
From Xinxing South Station, a taxi to the park takes about 40 minutes. Public transport works for a short visit, but if you want the hot spring, tea fields and hotel, calculate the taxi cost and return waiting time in advance.
Food delivery is not a reliable option in the mountains. Bring basic medicine, snacks and a light jacket for an overnight stay; the upper mountain is windier and cooler in the morning and evening than Xinxing town.

Check the ticket and cableway benefits
The main ticket usually includes the sightseeing shuttle, so check whether an “admission plus shuttle” package repeats a benefit you already have. Compare the on-site ticket, voucher and online cableway package against the route you actually plan to take.
The cableway’s listed last service is around 18:30, but weekend and holiday hours may vary. Ask about the day’s last ride before planning sunset; after the cableway stops, you must follow the available transport and accommodation arrangements.
Supplies, walking and weather
There are no reliable shops or stalls on the upper mountain, so carry water, food and basic medicine. Some downhill paths are quiet and in poorer condition, with old railings and insects; do not walk them alone, and carry a torch if you take one.
The tea fields, cableway and viewpoints are sensitive to weather. Strong wind, low temperatures or rain are reasons to shorten the upper-mountain visit. Cloud and sunset views depend on the season and the day’s weather, so do not treat the conditions in photographs as guaranteed.
