Choose between resort projects and free hiking

Xinxing Tianlu Mountain Tourist Resort is in Luodong Village, Lidong Town, Xinxing County, Yunfu. The main admission is listed at CNY 43–58 per person, while rafting, hot springs, the small train and other projects charge separately. Free mountain trails from Tianlu Mountain Forest Farm or Huangwo Village are a different route from the paid resort entrance.

The resort is open from 09:00–17:00, while the mid-mountain hot spring stays open until 22:30. Visitors choosing the free hiking route still need to prepare for a real mountain walk; it is not covered by the resort’s sightseeing transport.

The season changes the experience

The azalea season usually runs from mid-March to mid-April. Sightseeing vehicles serving the upper mountain mainly operate from late March to late April; outside the flower season, visitors may need to climb from around 200 metres above sea level. Summer suits rafting, while other seasons can focus on the old-style town, boardwalks, grassland or hot springs.

Choose your visit

Easy resort activities for families

Meixi Ancient Town, the mountain train, the Buddha’s Hand Flower viewpoint and the glass bridge form a relatively easy group of resort activities. Families with children or visitors who do not want a long climb can focus on these areas and decide later whether to add a boardwalk or valley section.

The 3.8-kilometre Zenlong Gorge rafting course and its listed 188-metre drop are a separate water activity. The mid-mountain hot spring is also separate. Neither should be assumed to be included in the main admission ticket throughout the year; check the package details before buying.

Ridge walks, flowers and hiking

The azalea slopes, alpine grassland, Lover’s Valley and Yuntian Peak suit visitors who enjoy mountain paths. Flowering and cloud conditions vary by season and weather, so the flower sea and mist should not be treated as fixed scenery.

The glass bridge and cliffside boardwalks involve height and uneven ground. Rainy weather is a poor time to rush these sections. Older visitors, young children and people who do not hike regularly can stay with the old town and gentler areas.

Build your day

3–4 hours: resort short route

Main gate → visitor centre and ticketing → Meixi Ancient Town → mountain train → Buddha’s Hand Flower viewpoint → exit. Check which vehicles and projects are operating at the visitor centre before buying a combined ticket, as queues may change the timing.

This route suits visitors with limited time and families with children. If you add the glass bridge, allow time for walking, queuing and returning to the visitor centre instead of scheduling the final vehicle or hot-spring session too tightly.

One day: resort highlights

Meixi Ancient Town → Wuyou Valley boardwalk → glass bridge → Zenlong Gorge rafting in summer → mid-mountain hot spring. Rafting and the hot spring each take a substantial part of the day, so confirm the rafting schedule, equipment and meeting requirements before adding both.

If the weather is unsuitable for the bridge or rafting, use the time for Wuyou Valley, the old town and the hot spring. Shops and food stalls are limited in the mountains, so bring water and a simple meal before going up.

5–6 hours: free mountain hike

Navigate to Tianlu Mountain Forest Farm or Huangwo Village Committee, then follow the mountain paths through Lover’s Valley to Yuntian Peak and the alpine grassland before descending according to your energy. This route does not rely on resort sightseeing vehicles; supplies are limited, so start in the morning and download an offline track first.

Do not force the summit route in rain, oppressive heat or during road works. If someone is already tired at Lover’s Valley, turn back; free access does not mean the climb is easy or risk-free.

Get there

Drive to the main gate or forest farm

For the resort, navigate to “Tianlu Mountain Tourist Resort Main Gate”. For the free hiking route, use “Tianlu Mountain Forest Farm” or “Huangwo Village Committee”. Driving from Guangzhou or Foshan takes about 2–2.5 hours; the main-gate car park is listed as free, and village-road parking may be available during holidays.

The access road has many bends and narrow sections, with some sections being rebuilt. Sedans may scrape their undercarriage, so drive slowly and use an SUV only if it is suitable for the route.

High-speed rail and group tours

From Xinxing South Station, a taxi to the resort takes about 40 minutes. Non-drivers can also join an outdoor day tour, listed at about CNY 99–150 per person and usually including transport and a guide; check whether the resort activities are included.

The mountain area is large, and public transport is not practical for switching between several entrances. If you want free hiking, rafting and hot springs, arrange the transport between them before leaving.

Know before you go

The flower-season vehicle is not a year-round service

The upper-mountain sightseeing vehicle mainly operates during the azalea season. Outside that period, you may need to climb from around 200 metres above sea level. Buying the main admission ticket does not mean that a vehicle will take you to the upper mountain all year.

There are few reliable shops or stalls in the mountains. Bring 1.5–2 litres of water and food for a hike, and download an offline track because reception can be weak near the summit. Stay together rather than spreading out.

Projects, weather and spending

The main ticket, rafting, hot spring, glass bridge and small train are separate items. Check what a package includes before paying. Do not buy “wild” medicinal herbs from roadside sellers simply because someone recommends them, and ask about photo-service prices before taking the offered photos.

Rain makes mountain paths, bridges and boardwalks slippery, and water activities may change with the weather. If conditions worsen, remove a distant project from the plan instead of rushing downhill near closing time.
