Golden Whip Stream

Treat it as the park's easiest long walk

Golden Whip Stream is a valley route at the lower level of the forest park. It is about 7.5 km long and usually takes 2.5-3 hours to walk in full.

South Gate to Shuirao Simen is the classic direction

Enter from the South Gate, pass Dayangba Square, then follow Golden Whip Stream toward Shuirao Simen.

Walking only part of it is also fine

If you do not want to complete the full 7.5 km, walk from the South Gate side to Golden Whip Rock and Shenying Protecting the Whip, then return. You can also start from Shuirao Simen and walk a shorter section into the valley.

Watch for monkeys and slippery stone paths

Golden Whip Stream has many monkeys, especially where crowds and food smells gather. Do not carry plastic bags, open your backpack, or eat snacks in front of them.

Do not enter the canyon too late

Light fades earlier in the canyon than in open areas. Starting a full walk too late in the afternoon will make the route feel rushed.
