Location, tickets and opening hours
Youli City is on the northern section of Wenwang Road in Tangyin County, Anyang. The main entrance is the Yanyi Gate archway, and the navigation destination is “Youli City Ruins.” An adult ticket costs about CNY 38; students and teachers with the required certificate pay about half price, or CNY 19. Reservations are usually not required, and tickets can be bought at the entrance or online.
In the peak season, roughly April to October, opening hours are about 08:00–17:30. In the low season, roughly November to March, they are about 08:00–17:00. Allow 1–1.5 hours for a short visit or 2–3 hours for the complete route.
What suits this visit
The main stops are Yanyi Gate, Wenwang Temple, Yanyi Terrace, the Bagua Maze, Tuer Mound, the Zhouyi Museum and the stone inscriptions. Youli City suits visitors interested in King Wen of Zhou, the Book of Changes, historical ruins or a maze experience. Commercial facilities around the site are limited.

Yanyi Terrace, Wenwang Temple and historical traditions
Yanyi Terrace is associated with the tradition that King Wen of Zhou was detained here and developed the Book of Changes. Wenwang Temple and the stone inscriptions in the compound suit visitors who want to see the site buildings, commemorative spaces and historical texts.
Tuer Mound is connected with traditions about Boyikao, the eldest son of King Wen. Visitors interested in the Book of Changes or Tangyin history can add it to Yanyi Terrace and Wenwang Temple, using the on-site explanations to understand the related traditions.
The Bagua Maze and Zhouyi Museum
The Bagua Maze follows the Later Heaven Bagua arrangement and is about 2,500 metres long, with many turns that make it easy to lose your direction. It suits families and visitors who enjoy interactive experiences, but low passages, extended walking and the time inside the maze all need to be part of the plan.
The Zhouyi Museum and stone inscriptions add indoor and written-history content before or after the maze. For entrance and maze photographs, use the Yanyi Gate and the permitted higher viewpoints inside the maze, following the open route boundaries.
Build your day
1–1.5 hours: Yanyi Gate to the Bagua Maze
Enter through Yanyi Gate, visit Wenwang Temple and Yanyi Terrace, and then enter the Bagua Maze. On a short visit, follow the main maze route through the low passages and return without adding Tuer Mound or the Zhouyi Museum.
The maze is about 2,500 metres long and has many turns, so the walking time depends on your pace. At low passages or slippery sections, stay on the open route and do not cross barriers or look for an unofficial exit.
2–3 hours: the historical site and complete route
Start with Yanyi Gate, Wenwang Temple and Yanyi Terrace, then visit the Bagua Maze. After completing the maze, continue to Tuer Mound, the Zhouyi Museum and the stone inscriptions in the compound. Visitors who want to shorten the maze can spend less time inside it and use the extra time for the museum and inscriptions.
Yue Fei Temple and Youli City are both in Tangyin County and are about 10–15 minutes apart by car or bus. They can form a half-day or one-day route, but their tickets, opening hours and entry arrangements remain separate.
Get there
Driving, parking and public transport
Driving takes about 30 minutes from central Anyang, and free parking is available at the entrance. By public transport, take a bus from Anyang Bus Station to Tangyin, a journey of about 30 minutes, then transfer to Bus 3 or take a taxi for about 15 minutes to the site.
From Tangyin Railway Station, take a taxi or ride a shared electric bicycle. Set the destination to “Youli City Ruins” and enter through the Yanyi Gate archway. The county town and the site entrance are separate locations.
Know before you go
Maze walking and safety
The Bagua Maze is about 2,500 metres long, and its low passages and repeated turns add to the walking time. Children should stay with an adult. Visitors with knee problems or anyone who cannot comfortably bend through low passages can make Wenwang Temple, Yanyi Terrace and the Zhouyi Museum the main route.
The site is not large, and there are few commercial facilities nearby, so carry water and simple food. Fortune-telling and character-reading stalls inside the site are optional services and are not part of the main route.
