Plan at a glance
Location and scale
Chagan Hot Tourism Resort is in northwestern Baicheng and is a national 4A-rated attraction. Chagan Hot Tourism Economic Development Zone covers about 171.86 square kilometres and includes grassland, lakes and historic sites. That is the size of the development zone, not an area visitors can freely explore. This guide focuses on Tuanjie Lake and does not make other sites with unconfirmed access part of a fixed itinerary.
Tuanjie Lake is a water landscape within the resort, with a surface area of about 12.85 square kilometres. If you want to see the lake, plan it as a single stop and arrange transport separately.
Time and opening
Allow 1–2 hours for a short lakeside stop after arrival. A half-day trip from central Baicheng should also include the return journey and time for breaks. This draft has not completed phone verification. Before setting out, contact the resort to confirm the latest entrance, ticket price and opening hours.

Choose your visit
Tuanjie Lake
Tuanjie Lake is the main focus of this visit. Its open water and surrounding grassland create a broad, flatland landscape. The plan is for viewing from the shore; it does not include boating or swimming.
Lake and grassland scenery
Chagan Hot's natural scenery is mainly grassland and lakes. The resort borders the Horqin Grassland to the east and the Taoer River to the west. Tuanjie Lake suits visitors who prefer open water, flat grassland and a slower pace, with the focus on views and a short stop.
Seasonal views
In summer, expect lake and grassland scenery; the lake freezes in winter. Baicheng's tourism route recommends summer and autumn for grassland scenery. In winter, go onto the ice only if the operator has explicitly opened it to visitors. A frozen lake does not mean that the ice is open for public access.
Build your day
One- to two-hour lakeside stop
Set your navigation destination to “Chagan Hot Tourism Resort.” Enter through the public lake-area entrance confirmed by phone before your trip, then go directly to the Tuanjie Lake viewpoint. After about 1–2 hours, return by the route used to enter. Keep the visit to the lake; do not add other areas of the resort as assumed open stops. Use the full resort name in navigation to avoid being directed to Chagan Lake in Songyuan.
Half-day return trip from Baicheng
From central Baicheng, plan a half day for the return journey, a 1–2-hour stop at Tuanjie Lake and breaks along the way. At the lake, stay only on shore areas clearly open to visitors. Do not follow unmarked roads deeper into the lake area, and do not add unconfirmed facilities just to fill the half day.
Get there
From central Baicheng
The resort is about 45 km from both central Baicheng and Ulanhot, making it a possible half-day stop near Baicheng. The Hunchun–Ulanhot Expressway and China National Highway 302 run through the development zone, but that does not mean every area is open to visitors. On arrival, go to Tuanjie Lake through the public entrance confirmed by the operator.
The final connection
The Baicheng–Arxan Railway crosses the area, but no train stops directly at the resort entrance. Arrange a separate transfer from Baicheng Railway Station to Tuanjie Lake. If arriving by train, contact the resort first to confirm the public entrance and final leg of the journey before deciding to go.
Know before you go
Entrance, tickets and opening
The Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism's 2025 travel route lists the resort's consultation number as 0436-3885211. Before travelling, call to check that the number is still active, whether Tuanjie Lake is open to the public that day, which entrance to use, and the current ticket price and hours. No fixed main gate or parking area has been confirmed. Do not treat the overall area of the tourism economic development zone as freely accessible to visitors.
Lakeside and winter safety
View the lake from shore paths that are open on the day. Enter the dam or go onto the ice only when the operator has explicitly opened those areas. Baicheng's lakes freeze in winter, but that does not mean ice activities are open every year.
Supplies and facilities
This visit is planned around the lake only; restaurants and entertainment within the zone are not part of the fixed itinerary. Bring water and prepare for wind and sun. If you need food, toilets or parking, call 0436-3885211 to ask what is currently available near the entrance.
