What this museum is
This page covers Baicheng City Museum's main venue, a general museum about local history, folk customs and themed exhibitions. It is separate from the Baicheng History Museum at the former Liaobei Provincial Government Office. A 2026 government procurement notice gives Building C of the Jinhui North Street Cultural Centre as the museum's address, but a procurement contact address is not necessarily the public entrance. An older visitor guide lists Building B. Confirm the current visitor entrance with the museum; plan the History Museum as a separate stop.
How much time to allow
Allow about 90 minutes to two hours for an indoor visit. Recent first-party information has not confirmed regular opening hours, galleries open that day or ticket rules. Check the museum's latest notice before setting out, and look for exhibition changes or temporary adjustments.

Choose your visit
Start with local history and folk customs
A 2016 venue guide from Jilin's culture and tourism department described the museum as a local general museum, with permanent displays on Baicheng's ancient and modern history, as well as temporary exhibitions on intangible cultural heritage and patriotic education. The information is old and does not guarantee that these exhibitions are still on view. Check the day's exhibition notices when you arrive, then choose what to see.
Look for themed exhibitions and intangible cultural heritage
Recent themed exhibitions have covered family traditions, intangible cultural heritage and folk customs, and ecological photography. A museum notice in September 2026 listed the Family Traditions exhibition on Level 1, Intangible Cultural Heritage and Folk Customs on Level 3, and a photography exhibition on Level 4; the photography show ended on October 15. A May 2026 intangible heritage exhibition included paper-cutting, clay sculpture, pyrography and gourd painting. These are dated exhibition references, not a promise that they are currently on view.
Who it suits
This museum suits visitors planning an indoor stop in central Baicheng who are interested in local history, general museum displays, intangible heritage and folk customs. Families can check the day's exhibition notice and choose a themed display that interests their children. Do not build a fixed plan around temporary exhibitions that have not been confirmed as open.
Build your day
A 90-minute to two-hour visit
On arrival, confirm the visitor entrance, registration process, floors open and current exhibitions, then follow the museum's current signs to choose galleries. If the local history displays are open, start with the ancient history section and continue to modern history, then see any themed exhibitions currently on view. If themed shows are the main offering, follow the route posted inside. Allow about 90 minutes to two hours and follow venue signs back to the exit.
The visit time above is an estimate, not a fixed duration set by the museum. If time is short, choose one group of exhibitions that is open and follow the current gallery signs.
If visiting both museums
Make the Baicheng History Museum a separate next stop and allow about 10 minutes of driving between the two venues. Check its opening arrangements separately. The 10-minute estimate comes from a 2025 provincial travel route; actual travel time depends on roads and time of day. The History Museum's exhibitions are not part of this main museum route.
Get there
Finding the main museum
Search for “Baicheng City Museum” on a map, but contact the museum before setting out to confirm the current public entrance. A 2026 government procurement notice gives Building C of the Jinhui North Street Cultural Centre as the museum's address; an older visitor guide lists Building B and 12 Gongyuan East Road. The procurement contact address does not confirm that visitors should enter through Building C, and the older guide does not establish the current entrance.
Public transport and parking
No recent first-party visitor information confirms current bus routes, stops or museum parking arrangements. After confirming the entrance, plan public transport using a current map or give the confirmed entrance to your taxi or ride-hailing driver. Do not use the Building C procurement address as a visitor entrance or rely on the bus-stop details in the 2016 venue guide.
Know before you go
Opening and registration
A museum notice for the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day listed registration with valid identification and holiday opening hours. Those holiday hours have passed and do not establish the regular schedule. Carry identification and check the latest notice before travelling to confirm whether registration or a reservation is needed and when last admission is.
Tickets and temporary exhibitions
A 2016 Jilin culture and tourism page recorded that the main museum had offered free admission since 2008, but no newer first-party ticket notice has been confirmed. Before visiting, check the current admission price, booking and registration rules, and which exhibitions are on view.
