Plan at a glance
A separate gorge scenic area
Baili Gorge is in Gougezhuang Village, Yesanpo Town, Laishui County. It has its own entrance, ticket, and gorge trails, separate from Baicaopan and Yugu Cave in the wider Yesanpo area. The gorge system has three valleys—Haitangyu, Shixuan Gorge (十悬峡), and Xiezigou—but regular visits mainly cover the first two.
From the main entrance, it is about 2 km to the central gorge area. Walk or take the scenic-area shuttle. Check the entrance map for the routes open that day.
Tickets, hours, and visit length
The reference adult ticket price is CNY 100. Peak-season reference hours (April 1 to October 31) are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with last entry at 4:00 p.m. Off-season hours are listed as 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the entrance. Students and visitors aged 60–69 may be eligible for half-price admission; check the required ID and current discount policy when buying.
A short gorge visit takes about 1.5–2 hours; the full loop takes about 4–5 hours. Shuttle rides, the Heavenly Ladder, cableway access, and queues affect the total time.

Choose your visit
Haitangyu: cliffs, waterfalls, and narrow passages
Haitangyu has Laohuzui (Tiger's Mouth), Shuangxin Waterfall, Yixiantian (One-Line Sky), Huishou Guanyin, and Jinxian Xuanzhen. Cliffs and streams are concentrated in this valley. It suits first-time visitors and people looking for a cooler walk; water levels and light affect how the waterfalls and narrow passages look.
Shixuan Gorge: Water Curtain Cave and waterfalls
Shixuan Gorge has Water Curtain Cave, Yixin Waterfall, and other water features. Follow the path for a shorter out-and-back walk. Check the signs for which side is open and whether the trail reaches the Heavenly Ladder.
The Heavenly Ladder, cableway, and effort
The Heavenly Ladder has about 2,800 steps and involves a strenuous climb. A one-way cableway ticket is about CNY 50 and can reduce the uphill effort. Check where the cableway boards and which trail it connects to on the day. For a gorge-focused visit, choose a short route and return at a signed turnaround point.
Build your day
Short route: out and back in one gorge
At the main entrance, check the trail map for open gorges and the shuttle's stop. Take the shuttle or walk about 2 km to the central trails. If time is limited, choose one open gorge, walk to the Heavenly Ladder area or a signed turnaround point, and return the same way. Allow about 1.5–2 hours.
Full loop: check the day's direction
The full loop links Haitangyu and Shixuan Gorge, with the Heavenly Ladder or cableway connecting the two sides. Allow about 4–5 hours. Use the day's map to confirm the uphill and downhill direction, cableway location, and return point for the shuttle. If the route changes, follow the open trails and use a one-gorge out-and-back instead.
Get there
Driving and parking
Driving from Beijing takes about 2 hours. Navigate to “Baili Gorge Visitor Center” or the main entrance. Budget about CNY 10–20 per day for parking; follow the posted rate at the lot.
Bus and tourist shuttle
Tourist Shuttle Route 36 near Beijing's Lianhuachi Bus Station runs to Baili Gorge. Check the day's outbound and return departures and ticket arrangements for your travel date; the service does not run every day.
Know before you go
Entrance, shuttle, and extra costs
The scenic-area shuttle is about CNY 25 per person, and a one-way cableway ticket is about CNY 50. When buying, check which rides are included, where to board and get off, and when the last shuttle runs. Do not follow roadside touts to unofficial “side entrances” or cableways.
Shoes, weather, and food
The gorge can be damp, and stone steps or walkways may be slippery. Wear shoes with good grip, not sandals. Bring insect repellent and a light jacket for summer. Drinks and simple meals inside the scenic area are limited and relatively expensive; bring water and check the menu and prices before eating nearby.
Nearby dishes include roast rainbow trout, fried Sichuan pepper leaves, and caotuan (vegetable-filled cornmeal cakes). Check restaurant hours and prices locally. If the weather worsens, the trails are slippery, or you are tired, skip the Heavenly Ladder. Do not enter a closed section to complete the loop.
