Choose your visit
Five Heroes Memorial Hall and monument
The Five Heroes Memorial Hall is at the foot of the mountain; the Five Heroes Memorial Monument is near Qipantuo on the mountain. Visitors interested in the story of the Langya Mountain Five Heroes can visit the hall before taking the cableway or hiking to the monument. The cableway route skips the hall, so allow separate time for it.
Glass viewpoint and Xitian Gate
The glass viewpoint looks out over the surrounding valleys. Xitian Gate has a narrow rock passage that brings you close to the cliff walls. Visibility is usually better on clear days. Check at the entrance whether the glass section requires a separate ticket or shoe covers, and stay behind barriers.
Red Agate Cave
The cave is dim, with uneven ground and some sections that require climbing with your hands and feet. It suits visitors who are comfortable with narrow passages and active movement. Families with older adults or young children may prefer to skip the cave and stay on the main mountain trail.
Build your day
Cableway route: about 2–3 hours
Enter through the east gate and take the cableway uphill. From the Qipantuo area, walk to the Langya Mountain Five Heroes Memorial Monument and the glass viewpoint, then take the cableway back down. Each cableway ride takes about 15 minutes. Follow the day's trail signs and check the final downhill service.
This route suits families, older visitors, and people who want to avoid a long climb. Holiday cableway queues may reach 3 hours. Before setting out, ask about the uphill and downhill queues and closing time, then decide whether to use the cableway both ways.
Hiking route: about 3–4 hours
From the east entrance, visit the Five Heroes Memorial Hall first. If the trail is open, continue through Red Agate Cave, then Xitian Gate, Qipantuo, the Five Heroes Memorial Monument, and the glass viewpoint before hiking back down. The route climbs steadily with few flat sections; decide whether to enter the cave based on your comfort with the terrain.
If your downhill walk is taking longer than planned, ask staff which routes remain open and when they close. Turn back on an open trail if you are tired, the weather worsens, or the ground becomes slippery.
Get there
Driving and shuttle
Navigate to the east gate. Parking Lot 1 is near the ticket entrance; if it is full, use Parking Lot 2 and take the free shuttle. Arriving early on holidays can reduce the time spent looking for parking and waiting for the transfer.
Visitors without a car should arrange transport both to and from the scenic area. Confirm the pickup point in the county town or at the station, and the transfer after hiking down.
Know before you go
Sunrise, opening hours, and queues
Normal opening hours do not allow a summit sunrise visit. Enter at the usual opening time unless the scenic area announces an early-opening event.
Cableway queues may reach 3 hours after midday on holidays. The mountain trail climbs steadily; wear hiking shoes with good grip and bring water. On busy days, keep the route simple so you are not still on the trail near the last service.
Cave conditions, supplies, and food
Red Agate Cave is dark and rugged. Follow the marked route and any visitor limits at the entrance and on the walkway; stay on the main trail. The hike takes time, so bring water and a small amount of food.
At the foot of the mountain, market stalls and farm restaurants may serve baked flatbread with smoked meat and chicken stewed with mushrooms. Check current business hours with each vendor.
