Plan at a glance
A large tomb complex with several sites
The Western Qing Tombs are in Lianggezhuang Township, Yixian County. The main entrance, ticket office, and transfer point are at the visitor center. Tailing, Chongling, Changxiling, Muling, and Yongfu Temple are spread across a wide area. The main route is too long to complete on foot; drive or use the scenic-area shuttle.
Allow about 2–3 hours to visit Tailing and Chongling, or 4–5 hours for Tailing, Changxiling, Muling, and Chongling. Add time for rides between tombs, waiting, walking from parking areas, and queues.
Passes, single-site tickets, and entry times
The reference pass costs CNY 108 in peak season (April–October) and CNY 86 in the off-season (November–March). Single-site tickets are also available: CNY 45 each for Tailing and Chongling, CNY 20 for Changxiling, CNY 10 for Muling, and CNY 15 for Yongfu Temple. Check which tombs are open and which sites your ticket covers before buying.
Reference peak-season hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with last entry at 5:00 p.m. Off-season hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last entry at 4:30 p.m. Annual passes may need advance activation or reservation and a paper ticket from the visitor center; follow the rules for your pass.

Choose your visit
Tailing: stone arches and the spirit way
Tailing is one of the complex's main architectural groups. Near the entrance are three stone arches, the spirit way, and rows of stone figures. The spirit way is about 2.8 km long. Follow the open route and stay out of closed areas.
Muling and Changxiling
Muling's Hall of Eminent Grace is known for its nanmu timber and wood carvings. The interior is dimly lit. Changxiling is smaller and has an Echo Wall and Echo Stone. Keep your voice low when trying the acoustic features and do not climb on the walls.
Chongling Underground Palace: check access that day
Access to Chongling's underground palace changes with conservation and operating arrangements. When it is open, follow the visitor limits and staff directions. If it is closed, visit the above-ground buildings at Chongling and spend the remaining time at Tailing, Changxiling, or Muling.
Build your day
Tomb visit: about 2–3 hours
Buy tickets at the visitor center, then visit Tailing's stone arches, spirit way, and stone figures. Drive or take the scenic-area shuttle to Chongling. Ask whether the underground palace is open; if it is, follow staff directions, and if it is closed, visit the above-ground buildings.
You need transport between Tailing and Chongling. At the visitor center, check shuttle stops, fare, and return time. If buying single-site tickets, check that both tombs are open and follow the ticketing arrangements at each entrance.
Four-tomb visit: about 4–5 hours
With more time, visit Tailing, Changxiling, Muling, and Chongling in that order, driving or taking the shuttle between them. Try the Echo Wall at Changxiling, see the Hall of Eminent Grace at Muling, and check access to Chongling's underground palace.
The 2–3-hour and 4–5-hour estimates cover visits inside the tomb sites. Allow extra time for rides, waiting, and queues within the complex.
If a site closes temporarily, visit another open tomb. Check transport and closing information at the visitor center before setting out. Drivers can move between the parking areas; shuttle users should confirm that the day's route covers every planned tomb.
Get there
Driving and transport within the complex
Navigate to “Western Qing Tombs Visitor Center” to buy tickets, then follow directions to Tailing, Chongling, or another tomb's parking area. Parking is about CNY 10 per vehicle for the day and may be valid at several lots; check which roads and lots are covered by your parking ticket.
Ask at the visitor center about the scenic-area shuttle. The reference fare is CNY 25, and some recent services have been free. The operator and fare may change; check the route, boarding point, and last shuttle before buying.
Bus from Beijing
There is a bus from Beijing Liuliqiao Bus Station to Yixian County, with a reference departure around 8:20 a.m. and fare of CNY 40. The ride takes about 2 hours. The last return bus from Yixian Bus Station is listed at about 5:00 p.m. Services do not necessarily run every day; check the operating date, booking method, and return stop for your trip.
Know before you go
The underground palace and cultural relics
Chongling's underground palace may close temporarily for conservation or operational reasons. Check at the visitor center or entrance on the day of your visit. The underground rooms are cool and damp, so watch your footing. Do not use candles, open flames, or personal lights unless permitted; follow on-site photography rules.
Water, food, and nearby stops
Dining options in the complex are limited. Bring enough water and a small snack. There is a restaurant near Tailing's parking area; check whether it is open.
Yishui Lake is about 20 km away, Taihang Water Town about 15 km, and Langya Mountain about 45 km. These can be combined on a driving trip. If visiting more than one attraction in a day, check each site's hours and the return drive. The tomb-complex pass does not cover nearby attractions.
