Plan at a glance
Location and theme
The Yellow River Water Conservancy Culture Museum is in Shuanghe Town, Linhe, inside the Yellow River Wetland Park, near the west side of the south end of Jinchuan Bridge. The museum has its own entrance and admission arrangements. Search for the museum by name when navigating.
Opening hours
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00 and is closed on Mondays. Check the museum’s notice for the latest admission time. Plan a full visit for the morning or earlier in the afternoon.
A good fit for
Visitors interested in the history of Yellow River flood control, irrigation, and water engineering can make this a separate themed visit. Families and students can learn how water supports farming in the Hetao region. The core exhibition route takes about an hour; allow more time for a guided tour or study activity.

Choose your visit
Three exhibition themes
The galleries follow three themes: “Splendid Yellow River Water Conservancy Culture,” “A Pioneering Hetao Irrigation District,” and “Passing on the Hetao Main Canal Spirit.” Together they trace Yellow River management, the development of the irrigation district, and construction of the main canal. Check gallery signs for areas open during your visit.
The wild-goose design and stone relief
The museum building takes the form of a wild goose, and a large relief carved in natural stone runs along its exterior. Walk along the outside of the building to see the relief before entering through the museum entrance marked on site.
Artifacts and historical texts
The museum collects and displays artifacts and historical texts related to Yellow River management, the development of the Hetao Irrigation District, and water projects. Focus your visit on the three exhibition themes and the cases open that day.
Build your day
A 30-minute highlights route
Enter the museum, start in the foyer and Yellow River water conservancy gallery, then continue to the Hetao Irrigation District theme and follow the guide back to the entrance. This 30-minute route covers the core displays.
A full route of about one hour
Follow the museum guide through the Yellow River water conservancy, Hetao Irrigation District, and “Passing on the Hetao Main Canal Spirit” galleries, then return to the entrance. The core route takes about an hour. Trip.com suggests two to three hours for a visit; allow longer if you read each display, join a guided tour, or take part in a study activity.
Plan around the last admission time
If you want to see all three themes in the afternoon, arrive before 15:00 and allow at least an hour. If you arrive later, first check the last admission time and which galleries are open. Group tours and study activities need additional time.
Continue with a wetland park walk
The museum is within the Yellow River Wetland Park. After your visit, you can continue walking according to the park’s on-site guide. The park’s entrances, viewpoints, and paths have their own opening arrangements; the museum’s hours do not apply to the rest of the park.
Get there
Navigate to the museum
For easier navigation in Chinese map apps, search for “黄河水利文化博物馆” (Yellow River Water Conservancy Culture Museum). Its map point is southwest of Jinchuan Bridge. The park’s north gate has not been confirmed as the museum entrance; look for the museum sign and wild-goose-shaped building, then follow signs inside.
Public transport
No reliable bus route to the museum has been confirmed. Before travelling by bus, use a live map to plan the stop and final walking leg. Drivers and ride-hailing passengers can navigate to the museum’s map point.
Know before you go
Tickets and registration
Available information describes admission as free, with individual visitors registering at the museum using a Chinese ID card. Confirm the day’s admission and registration process with the museum before setting out. Older opening information asked groups to book in advance; groups and visitors seeking a guided tour should check booking arrangements.
Overseas visitors and public-interest tours
Visitors using a passport should confirm accepted documents, registration, and booking requirements with the museum; the standard Chinese ID registration process may not apply. Ctrip lists free guided tours when available; check the schedule and booking process for the day.
Plan the scope of your visit
If visiting other museums in Linhe the same day, plan transfers using each museum’s address and live route. Sanshenggong Scenic Area in Dengkou County is a separate county-level destination and needs its own travel time. Check opening hours separately for a wetland park walk and the museum galleries.
Parking and photography
Public information does not specify a visitor parking entrance or fees; ask the museum about parking before driving. Follow on-site signs for photography, handling historical texts, and approaching display cases. Do not touch artifacts.
