The Northern Song pagoda and Wanfo Pagoda Park
Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda is at No. 32 Jikang North Road, inside Wanfo Pagoda Park in Mengcheng. Enter through the park's main gate. The pagoda was first built in the first year of the Chongning era of the Northern Song dynasty (1102). It is an octagonal, 13-story, pavilion-style brick pagoda, with more than 8,000 glazed Buddha images set into its inner and outer surfaces. It is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
Wanfo Pagoda Park is free to enter, with reference hours of 08:00–17:00 every day, and reservations are usually not required. Allow about 30–45 minutes for a complete visit, or about 15–20 minutes for quick photos and an exterior walk around the pagoda. The base may be enclosed; climbing the pagoda and entering it are outside the regular visit, and the protection and opening signs on site take priority.

The pagoda's form and glazed Buddhas
The main structure is an octagonal, 13-story brick pagoda. Its proportions and changing levels are worth viewing from several angles. The glazed Buddha bricks set into the inside and outside surfaces are mainly yellow and green; as you walk around the open areas, look for their arrangement and small details.
The park focuses on protecting the pagoda and viewing it from outside. It suits visitors interested in historic sites, architectural photography and the pace of a small-town park. Follow the open paths and the signs around the fenced or restricted areas.
Lake reflections and upward views from an old lane
The park pond is a good place to photograph the full pagoda and its reflection. The lakeside path also gives views of the pagoda with the trees and sky. The lane beside the park offers a low-angle view that puts the old pagoda together with everyday scenes of modern life.
On a clear day, the light around the lake and lane changes noticeably. Stay on public paths and in areas open to visitors when taking photos, and keep away from the protective barriers around the pagoda base.

The 30–45-minute park route
Enter through Wanfo Pagoda Park's main gate and start along the lakeside path to see the pagoda's reflection. Then walk around the outside of the pagoda and finish by looking at the glazed Buddha details in the open areas. View the base from outside its protective boundary and follow the open path around it.
This route covers the pagoda as a whole, the lake and the glazed architectural details. The public park is free, and the regular visit focuses on the paths and the outside of the pagoda; an indoor exhibition area and a tower climb are not part of the regular route.
The 15–20-minute quick route
With limited time, go first to the lakeside opposite the park's main entrance for a full view of the pagoda. Then pause in the open area below the tower to look at its structure and glazed Buddha bricks before leaving. This short route works well with Zhuangzi Shrine or other places in Mengcheng's old city.
Zhuangzi Shrine and Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda have separate entrances and visitor areas. If you visit them on the same day, connect the two according to the map and the opening conditions for the day.
Get there
From Bozhou to Mengcheng
Mengcheng currently has no train service. Take a coach from Bozhou Bus Station to Mengcheng; the reference fare is about CNY 27 and the journey takes about 2.5 hours. After arriving, transfer to a local bus, such as routes 1 or 2, or take a taxi to Wanfo Pagoda Park. For the return, go back to Mengcheng Bus Station or another transport connection point; services follow the arrangements on the day.
If driving, set the destination to “Wanfo Pagoda Park”; the park has a free car park. The pagoda is inside Mengcheng County, and it combines well with Zhuangzi Shrine as a Mengcheng itinerary. It is a long way from Bozhou's old-city attractions, so treat Mengcheng as a separate half-day or full-day outing.

A preservation-focused exterior visit
The regular visit focuses on the park setting, the pagoda's exterior and the glazed Buddha bricks that can be seen from open areas. The base may be fenced, so visitors mainly view the pagoda from the outside paths; there is no regular arrangement for climbing or entering the tower.
This is a historic-site park centered on preservation, with limited interactive or indoor content. To visit Zhuangzi cultural sites, Mengcheng Confucian Temple or Water Street, travel to those locations separately; their opening hours follow the information for the day.
