Tickets and timing
The current arrangement is a RMB 100 joint ticket for the three scenic areas, valid for three days, with one entry to each of Baquan Gorge, Hongdou Gorge, and Qinglong Gorge. If you only plan to visit Baquan Gorge, confirm whether the joint ticket is still the current sales arrangement. The ticket price, validity period, concession rules, and the summer hours of roughly 07:00–16:30 should all be reconfirmed before departure.

Baquan Gorge: the fullest first visit to Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon
Baquan Gorge has the widest range of rides and experiences in the larger scenic area, including a cruise on High Gorge Lake, about 2 km of canyon trails, a switchback cableway, and a 208-metre cliff elevator. It suits first-time visitors who want to combine water, canyon walking, and elevated views in one day; plan Baquan Gorge around its own entrance and internal route for that day.
Qinglong Gorge: use the joint ticket for a waterside half-day
Qinglong Gorge focuses on a shaded forest gorge, streams, small waterfalls, and Qinglongtan Waterfall at the end of the trail. The walk is about 2 km and the full visit takes roughly 2–3 hours. It works well as a shorter second-day plan, or for families who want to cool off near shallow water without taking on a long climb; check the return sightseeing vehicle and walking conditions on site that day.
Hongdou Gorge: include it only as part of the joint-ticket plan
The joint ticket also covers Hongdou Gorge, but confirm its entrance, opening status, and recommended visit time separately before you go.

Choose one main scenic area per day
The three scenic areas have separate entrances and are best planned on separate days. If you have only one day, make Baquan Gorge the main destination. If the joint ticket is still valid for three days, place Baquan Gorge, Qinglong Gorge, and Hongdou Gorge on different dates rather than trying to fit multiple entrances into one day. Allow about 3–5 hours for the full Baquan Gorge route and 2–3 hours for Qinglong Gorge; Hongdou Gorge’s entrance and specific route need to be confirmed separately.
Full and short options, plus the return
At Qinglong Gorge, you can walk all the way to Qinglongtan Waterfall and then take a sightseeing vehicle back down. For a lighter 1.5–2-hour outing, walk to the shallows in the middle section, spend time by the water, and return the way you came. Return vehicles, trail directions, and internal rides are not interchangeable between the three scenic areas, so check each one separately.
How to divide a three-day joint ticket
If you plan to use the three-day ticket, give Baquan Gorge a full day and use another day for Qinglong Gorge’s 2–3-hour route. Hongdou Gorge’s exact entrance, route, and visit duration need separate confirmation, so check its opening status before going. This keeps the entrances and transport arrangements separate instead of forcing several scenic areas into one day.
Get there
From Changzhi East Railway Station into the mountains
From Changzhi East Railway Station, you can take a Damei Taihang (大美太行) customized shuttle or use a carpool or small passenger vehicle. The trip takes about 1.5 hours and costs around RMB 35 per person. You can also ask Changzhi Coach Station about buses serving the scenic areas. Public-transport schedules may change by date, and after arrival you still need to confirm whether you are heading to the Baquan Gorge, Hongdou Gorge, or Qinglong Gorge entrance.
Driving and parking
When driving, enter the parking area for the specific scenic area you are visiting rather than switching entrances after reaching the mountains. Parking is roughly RMB 10 per vehicle per visit at each area, while electric vehicles are currently free; confirm the exact parking location and any shuttle arrangement with that area’s entrance information on the day.
Know before you go
Tickets and the pace of a mountain visit
The joint ticket is most useful if you will enter more than one scenic area within its validity period; if you are visiting only one, read the ticket terms carefully before buying. Weather, queues, and seasonal operations can affect a mountain itinerary, so confirm the cruise, cableway, elevator, and sightseeing-vehicle arrangements with the specific scenic area on the day.
Food and safety
There are farmhouse restaurants around Qiaoshang Township and Shiban Town. Food inside the scenic areas may cost more, so ask about the price and portion size before ordering. Mountain roads and canyon trails become slippery in rain, which can also increase queues and return pressure; wear shoes with good grip and plan the return separately for each scenic area.
